Loan Company repeated calls... Help!

For about a year now I’ve been receiving texts and calls for another person who has apparently applied for Loans trough several brokers but used my phone number. It wasn’t too annoying at first but now it’s ridiculous. The last few weeks I’ve had about 5 calls and 10 texts a day from various loan companies about different things. Every time I tell them it’s the wrong number and ask them to remove me from their lists but it just happens again and again and again, quite often from the same companies...
Is there any way I can completely block all these?
Apologies if this is the wrong thread, I’m just getting rather desperate to sort it...

Ps if anyone knows a Lisa Adams or Simon Adams in Coventry, tell them to learn their own phone number! Cheers!

    What phone are they ringing you on ? Mobile or landline

    Write to them asking to stop calling you.

    You tried your phone provider ?

    I don’t have any addresses and there are about 15 different companies!
    I’ve had a look at trying to block the numbers but some of the texts come through without a number, just automatically have a name at the top as if they’re in contacts already

    If the phone calls come through answer and leave it on the side - they soon get the message
    :T:T :beer: :beer::beer::beer: to the lil one :) :beer::beer::beer:
  • Change your number? A pain I know but would stop them.

    So a mobile then, you can block the number on the mobile.

    On Android you can.

    Maybe block text messages too.

    I second DCFC79's advice - if you know the name(s) of the company(ies) calling, Google their head office addresses and send them a posted letter (don't do it signed for, just get a certificate of posting) telling them that they are repeatedly calling for these people to your number, you are not those people and to stop calling you.

    I'd also put a line in asking them to send you a copy of their complaints procedure with their response and that you will go to the ICO if they persist calling after a date that's 30 calendar days from the date of your letter.

    TPS is a nice idea in theory but pointless and powerless in reality IMHO. Registering with them made no difference to the volume of calls I used to get.
