Hi
I am just trying to complete my 2016-2017 tax return. I work full time and run a small business on the side.
I have got to the last page and this is the message
Total amount due for 2016-17 £0.00
Plus
First payment on account for 2016-17 £0.00
Total to be added to Self Assessment account due by 31 January 2018 £715.00
Second payment on account for 2016-17 will be due by 31 July 2018 £0.00
If all my payments due are £0.00 why will there be £715 added by Jan 18?
thanks in advance for your help.

Something seriously wrong somewhere,
Second payment on account for 2016-17 will be due by 31 July 2018
Payments on account for 2016:17 are due on 31:01:2017 and 31:07:2017, part way through and just after the end of the year, not a year and a bit after the year ends!!0 -
I've had the same thing!
Don't understand it at all!0 -
Are you using HMRC software, which is pants? Or software company stuff which is generally relaible?Hideous Muddles from Right Charlies0

You do not make payments on account if you have paid 80% of the tax due already- eg your PAYE tax paid- or if the tax due is less than £1000.
Any tax due would then be payable by 31 January as a balancing payment.
Your statement does not make sense as it says your tax due for 2016/17 is £0.00 but there is a balancing payment due of £715.00
What tax is shown as due in the calculation?0 -
Hi guys
Anyone got any update on the SA repayment screen. Bank repayment pending zone at the moment and guessing the Easter holiday won't help0 -
I filed 6th, switched to repayment pending on 7th and called up on 13th and told it needed manual security check. Guy on phone said around two weeks from 13th I should have it. Anyone in the same situation? Thanks0
