Defend his actions or admit his mistake and plead for his job?
If he's already admitted them, not much point arguing about it. If he did the wrong thing and knew it, then best course of action will be humble pie and plea for job. If he did the wrong thing but didn't know it...then you could argue lack of training, etc. but I don't think that's really going anywhere.Debt 1/1/17 - Credit Cards £17,280.23; overdrafts £3,777.24
