Good Morning chums from cold central Still coughing and spluttering but I am hoping the worst is past ,just wish I could taste something. Or even fancy something to eat I just have no appetite at all. Even bovil tates of just hot water.Today is DGS Bens 21st and I must make the effort to get round to see him at DDs later this afternoon so I am going to have an extended lie-in this morning with lots of naps to build myself up.I really haven't felt this awful for years .
Apparently our local GPs flooded with folk suffering with this super-cold bug ,not that I would go anywhere near the Drs with a cold I am self medicating with lots of hot drinks, paracetamols and rest, not much else to do really and it will wear itself out no doubt.Blooming nuicesance though.
Still like all things it will pass and life will get better
I am so pleased I did everything early this year though, I certainly couldn't fancy the thought of struggling around the shops feeling this grotty.
The weather is looking decidedly grey and damp at the moment although its not cold at least.Only one more week of madness in the shops then a bit of peace when they shut:)
I must admit I haven't missed all the chrush at all by being indoors and have at least caught up with some of the stuff on my TiVo box so there will be a fair bit of room to record what i fancy from the christmas stuff.
Right time for another hot bovril I guess
Onwards and upwards chums

I have a few presents eft to wrap and the house to give a good lean to but than I am done.

Morning allI was absent yesterday so rather belated vibes of support for Deleted_User.
TA glad your blood test was ok and best wishes for your husband, and also for others, some of us do seem to be going through it at present.
JackieO, I have been having a similar bug, not enjoying this week. I had to cry off the team meal out last week, I spent the day at home.
I have some jobs to do, probably won't do them all, hoping for a better week next week.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning all,
I hope all the poorlies feel better soon,at the tail end of a cold myself.Thought it was some new perfume I'd bought that was making me sneeze at first,no such luck-still its more moneysaving being still able to use the perfume
Had a lovely afternoon out with my old neighbour on Wed. She drove us to a farm shop/craft /gift place about half an hour away.It wasnt too busy though the cafe was,we had to keep going for another walk round. In the end a couple said they were leaving soon so we joined them till they left ,then had the table to ourselves.I had a Xmas dinner wrap & lovely it was too.I wouldnt have thought of putting it all in a wrap-mm wonder what the reaction would be if I served them on Christmas day :rotfl:I got some meat from the farm butchers, tried some mince yesterday in a shepherds pie, very nice.It worked out very reasonable if you bought 5 packs so the rest is squirreled away in the freezer.I am meeting her again next Friday to go turkey shopping on the market.
DH and DS are at DS new house carrying on with the refurb, still stripping stuff out, knocking walls out and have borrowed our friends industrial strimmer for the back garden which was a jungle.I dont suppose they'll get any work that actually pays till after the hols nowBeen about 3 weeks now since they worked-the joys of being self employed I guess.Could be worse as they finished a big extension prior to that so we're not in dire straits yet,and the lady of the house bought DH a big bottle of B aileys & a crate of beer for DS which was nice of her.
Chicken in some form tonight ,a burger for DS2.Hugs to all those in need especially Csarina,Lainey,Coxy,Hilstep and LWW,sorry if I missed anyone.xxSave:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Back in action after having the winter vomiting bug since Saturday:eek: So grateful I always have food and preps at home as I did not have to go out or even get dressed.
Positive vibes for Mr and Mrs TA and everyone undergoing procedures and tests.
JackieO
Would a sprinkle of paprika or chilli pep up the bovril so you can taste something?
Middle dd got her Masters in Manchester yesterday so we all went for the day. Lovely ceremony, fancy champagne afternoon tea in a part of the old town hall with sculptures, vaulted ceilings and enormous fireplace a la harry potter.
We walked round the Christmas market and ended up in a wine bar having an impromptu wine tasting with a wine author and a signed copy of one of his books before going home to watch "The Apprentice" with a cup of tea, our feet up and in our pjs.
It was a lovely day if a bit poignant without DH and has done us all good. So proud of how supportive and kind dds and son in law have been.
I have just contacted the local library to leave my details to be a volunteer and plan to attend a few U3A meetings in January. I want 2017 to be a fresh start and get myself more outgoing.
Hugs to all"This site is addictive!"

Good evening all,
Late check in for me as I had a day off today and I was keeping myself busy.
Elona - Glad you're feeling better
Jackie & AOD - Hope you get over the bug soon.
Hope everyone else has a lovely evening, need to dash.0 -
Evening.
Just wanted to say to Elona - your day sounds lovely, congratulations to your DD. It's good to hear you having a happy day. Your OH is always present in your hearts.
My day was fine. Cleared out some bags lingering in the small barn, full of 'stuff'. I've taken some unwanted things to the tip and have a bag for the recycling shop in Oban. They take in items and sell them at low cost to benefit claimers and asylum seekers.
The trip with the dementia patient was fine too though her husband is much more into his dementia than she is. Anyway, won't see her for a while now. I took the opportunity when in Tarbert to go to a couple of gift shops for a small number of cards. I'm having to up my list from two to about eight.
Came home via the chip shop, there was a space outside it which I always take as an invitation. Chinese wasn't open yet. As it's once every couple of months I don't feel guilty.
Think it's going to be colder tonight. Already the Sirius star is fully visible so no clouds. Car is not in the big barn but I don't have to go out first thing so it doesn't matter if it gets frosted.
Friday night grape juice waiting for the 6 o'clock news which is my demarcation line.0
