Thanks dancingfairy (nice name). Yes thanks, had an appraisal today and been advised to go on ESA but that seems to take me further from a job. Tomorrows another day.0

Yesterday was the hardest step posting here. Today you began to feel the support and help of others on here - stick around - tomorrow will be even better. Keep taking little steps in the right direction.0

You have to keep on making the little steps forward and you will get to a better place.
It's not easy but remember everybody here knows how you feel.
It sounds like you are taking the steps you need to and I am sure if your family knew how you felt they would be right beside you.
I put it off and got myself into over £60,000 of debt. There is 23,000 left. It seemed like an impossible task at the beginning but now its starting to feel like I might just get my life back soon.
Good Luck!0 -

You are right, tomorrow is another day with another solution, well done for that, it's tough in your position.
If your mental health is as delicate and debilitating as it sounds you might (should?) be entitled to some sort of disability benefit. Have you checked out the leaflet between debt and mental health from the front page, I'll try to post the link.
Ok here you go

Today was day one, make tomorrow the day you do one more thing and contact one of the organisations listed on the leaflet link.Debt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.

You will never get charged for any advice at CAB. You will only be referred to a solicitor if you need legal help and you don't.
I suggest you forget whatever happened years ago and go back to CAB and ask them to help you with bankruptcy fees and a benefits review. It is the best way forward for you.0 -
Thanks for all for your positive comments. Some hopefully positive things have happened today but they'll take time to flower. Off to try for some sleep. Thanks again.0

I am in the same situation regarding being able to pay to go bankrupt, so never feel you are alone.... I have applied for help with bankruptcy fees online at a website called "Charis grants" it is quite a lengthy process, I have been waiting since June when I put my application in online. But I know I just don't have the means to save £800, I can barely afford to pay... attention. My journey hasn't yet started properly, I surrender my hpi car on the 1st of next month and need to do another statement of affairs, so if you want a Bankruptcy partner, I'm all alone too

Barely afford to pay attention....made me smile, well done for having a sense of humour (even it is a bit dark)
Hopefully your post will have helped others too. Good luck with it.
Do you find the bankruptcy thread helpful at all?Debt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.

Yes very helpful, I have started my own thread called "Thriftkitten by name not by nature" and it is really a question and answer process of my journey to bankruptcy, ts been a great help, the people who have responded are lovely and I don't feel embarrassed to talk about my financial problems which is great, instead of hiding it from everyone.;)Thriftkitten
