  • Have no cheque book and they don't give there payment methods
  • In that case you'll probably have to phone.

    When you send the letter making the offer, include a request for them to send you their bank account details so you can begin making payments asap and hopefully they will comply.

    This will also provide additional documentary evidence (if required) that you are making reasonable efforts to settle the account.

    You could consider sending a postal order with the letter and then ask for bank details to set up a standing order. You might not want to send the whole £100 by postal order due to the fees, but you could consider sending a small token payment by that method to demonstrate a willingess to pay.

  • I really would phone them to check their bank details. Surely you don't even need to give a reference number so they can't start hassling you over the phone - just generally say you want to set up a standing order and you need their sort code etc. if they ask for your reference just say oh I don't have it on me at the moment but I am in the bank at the moment and they are asking for a sort code etc?
