                    Could anybody help me?
I am thinking of going down the road of bankruptcy, I added up what I owed a few weeks ago and nearly died, 19K, I will never be able to pay that off in my life time. I am 51, now single, I rent my property and I don't know what to do?
I have been told it costs about 500 to go to court, as I do not have this sort of money (hence bankruptcy) is there anywhere I could go to get help with the costs? I do work full time.

'Occupational' charities like royal British legion can help
EDF and british gas have charitable trusts that can help their customers (in theory at least)
Most people save while they are researching and gathering the info they need for the forms. There's no point paying your creditors in the weeks leading up to bankruptcy.
If you feel like posting an SoA (see the debt-free board for guidance) we might be able to give better guidance.0

Some unions may help too - if you are a member. I know Unison does, you have to fill in a form and send proof of your circumstances (financial). I applied to the EDF charity but never heard anything back, not even a "no". But I didn't keep chasing them as Unison saved the day.0
