If your income is irregular than do not have direct debits. My father pays all his bill (mortgage, utilities, council tax etc) all over the counter. That way he is in full control and no need to play the "blame game".
Bit harsh. I'm sure when most people sign up for a new bank account they don't think 'Ah, actually better not incase I get charged £x for a late DD'. Most companies also offer discounts for customers who pay by DD, which is helpful for most people on this board who are trying to save the £££s.
And to be honest, any bank, anywhere will make these charges now, so what do you suggest? That nobody opens accounts? You can budget your money as well as possible, but circumstances sometimes change, and if your income is irregular then what can you do about it? Short of getting a new job/career. A small admin charge or telling off is fine, but to be charged £30-odd is too much.
Have a think before you post next time, son.£2 Coin Savings = £0.23
