rent arrears

Hi,I have been made aware my landlord of 5 years ago is persueing me for £2000 which is now £8000. The circumstances are complicated but I have evaded every attempt to be located. How can I deal with this ambiguous debt without giving this unscrupulous tic any money?

Cant see how £2000 gets to £8000. Was there a judgement made against you. Did you go to court?
I all have learnt is from others on many sites.
    Seek legal help if unsure.
Dont pay Private Parking tickets - they are mere invoices.

How is the debt 'ambiguous'? If the debt is owed, how is the LL 'unscrupulous'?

  • the debt has risen in 5 years from the original amount, therefore £6000 has been placed upon it..............through debt agency fees trying to locate me ??????? Its ambiguous all right, but I will not be drawn upon the finer details surfice it to say if I could rid myself of worry that no legal procedure would arise after 6 years..............revenge is best served ..............ummmmmmmm...................COLD !!!!!!!

Without going into the "finer details", it will be difficult for any of us to help you.

I would assume that, if you are not liable for the debt, then you would be able to prove regular payment of rent, therefore if it were to go to court, you could provide that proof.

If that's not the case, then people need more details in order to give you useful advice.
