Do these programs only work on their respective disk types - i.e. Seagate and Maxtor?

I've been using various versions of DiskWizard for years and found it works with most makes of HDD. It does warn however, that the HDD is unsupported before continuing.

    Thanks to Hawkwind for this
I'm a great supporter of disc imaging software and TrueImage is one of the best
You can install this on any computer BUT it will only run if a Seagate/Maxtor hard drive is detected
I installed on my backup machine with a Samsung drive and it wouldn't work!
But as Hawkwind said plugging in an external USB drive containing a Maxtor disc made it run O.K.
By the way it is a 100 Meg download
  • very good program and if you dont have seagate & want to buy,it is very resonable here http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/3384521/Acronis-True-Image-10/Product.html?P36=5S3FJD GBP14.99 :money: or free on torrent or alt.binaries.boneless (illegal)

afaik it takes a copy of everything on the hard drive and puts it into an ISO image and you burn it to a CD. dont confuse images (as in graphics/pictures) with disk images as they are completly different

It simply just restores your operating system, installed programs, files etc back onto your hard drive if you are having any problems with your operating system, due to a virus, or maybe an opeating system problem that is crashing your computer.

What you do is, when you have say just reinstalled windows xp and all of your programs and your system is running fast and nice and clean.
You can have Acronis take an image of your partion (C drive) that you can save to either a dvd or another hard drive.
If you then are having any problems such as mentioned above, then Acronis will restore that image that you have saved, back onto your C drive so you will have your clean and fast operating system back again.

It is so much more user friendly and quicker than having to reinstall windows and all of your programs again, as well as protecting data etc
Acronis True Image 10 Home creates the exact copy of your hard disk and allows you to instantly restore the entire machine including operating system, applications, and all the data in the event of a fatal system crash or virus attack — no reinstallations required!
