99p Stores thread anyone?

In Coventry there's a 99p store. I avoided it for ages, but once i went in i was converted. you can get very good brand names for a fraction of the price you would pay anywhere else. I got a double pack of Alpro puds usually £3, Green and Blacks chocs, usually about £4, etc.
(I really hate to state the obvious but everything is 99p, apart from Bogofs only 50p :D

Is it worth starting a thread for this shop, as they do have some bargains only in for a few days, worth going for.

I found a stack of HomePride Tomato Pasta Sauce with herbs yesterday, 6 cans for 99p. i used it today and is fine, 83% tomato with onions and herbs, for 16p a can you can't go wrong. dated until October 2008.

If anyone wants to add please do!! :T

I loved the 99p shop when I lived in Birmingham, but there isn't one even remotely close to me now. It often had way better offers then £shops.

We used to have a 99p shop then it got "upgraded" to a Poundland...i dont mind much though - saves the thicko shop asst. fumbling around in till, all confuddled by the whole "penny change" issue.....!
Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?

I think 99p shop is much better than poundland. They have more named stuff and some brilliant bargains.
  • great idea, love the one here in wellingborough,
we use it a lot for holiday bits especially our caravan...
lots of bargains but get them while you can..
    many thanks.

The problem is, they all have different goods in our area, being privately owned.
So posts would tend to be of local interest only, whereas Poundland is national.

There's a privately owned '£ shop' in Peterborough, though he's now added a sticker to the shop sign to say 'or more' after the '£', kinda defeating the purpose I thought! :)
  • I love the 99p store :j
I think its great that someone started a thread for them.
I popped into the one in Sheffield last week and got Nivea Sunkissed Body Moisturiser and Walkers Sensations for 2 for 99p, along with other branded products.

We have one in Eastleigh Hampshire and it is always busy. Last week I bought a multipack (14) of Walkers crisps for 99p- well in date, all their crisps are large packets for 99p.

If you have one give it a go, you'll soon be converted
  • we have one here got loads of bargains saved££££
