Hello all, am feeling particularly smug as I have done all the family xmas shopping now and just have the hubby to do and then i'm done for this year. Love the 3 for 2 at Woolies - bought 2 kids toys and then got the parents present free - bargain. I love it when a plan comes together. Have done the parents some lovely hampers - full of delicious food from our local farm shop at a fraction of the price of the cost of shop bought hampers - plus your g'teed to give foods that they will like!
This year am cutting costs further by buying bottles of wine for gifts. We found a very nice £5 bottle reduced and then when you buy 6 you get a discount on top and so it worked out about half price for each bottle. But I feel a bit cheap just getting someone a bottle of wine especially since some are family. So I thought I would attach a Xmas decoration to each bottle - personalised to the recipient with a xmas wish. That way they can hang it on their tree and who knows perhaps we'll do it every year and we'll end up decking their whole home in time!
I'm after some simple wooden xmas decorations - you know a bit like shaker or new england decorations - something that we can paint up or already painted but we can add a message of good wishes - any one know where I can find such a thing for a reasonable price? No sense in saving all that money on a bottle of plonk and end up spending it all again on a high street xmas decoration!
thanks in advance

Hi Debs
Have you tried the baker ross catalogue, it is available online at WWW.BAKERROSS.CO.UK sorry haven't mastered links yet! You don't have to be part of an organisation to get one as there is a box for other people to tick! On page 8 there are some wooden Christmas hanging decorations to paint in star, stocking, rocking horse etc shapes a set of 10 costs 1.99 or £7.20 for 40 (if you have a lot of bottles to send out!!) and on page 21 there are some mini hanging photo frames to decorate with heart, circle or square apertures, these work out at £2.10 for a pack of 6 or £7.92 for a pack of 24. Loads of other good ideas in there as well. hope this helps. Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

Firstly, Never ever feel guilty about getting a bargin for a present. Provided you don't tell them they will never know ;) I used to fall into this trap, buy bargins then add too, then other presents look cheap in comparisson, so add to them, then next thing you know you've spent a fortune on everyone. Don't feel guilty. Only we will know and we won't tell ;)
Saying all that, the decoration idea is nice. Try Hobbycraft
Or try 'Designer' Decorations for completely home made onesWhen life hands you a lemon, make sure you ask for tequilla and salt0 -

thanks guys - have been searching in my lunch hour and found a really nice website http://www.christmastimeuk.com
Its got loads of xmassy decs - some really cheap. I can get christmas bears (code 8010700) for 75p each which is a bargain as I don't even have to paint them myself!
they also have some super cute Gingerbread resin decorations as well!
These are both in the christmas characters section of tree decorations
Thanks though0 -
I'm feeling veeery SMUG too. My Christmas gift shopping is all done also. However, it has not been done in MSE style, (hang my head in shame), for speed and ease I've opted for the 'Margo Ledbetter' Christmas. ie everything is delivered in a big green van. Having said all that I'm on budget for Christmas and it's all delivered without me going into even one shop or hearing "I'm dreaming of a white Christmas" once.Life's a beach! i'm almost feeling smug, am nearly done, just a 60 yr old father to find something for, and an 8 yr old whodoesn't know what she wants.
and xmas cake is made, and puddings. ;D0 -
I'm dreaming of a home made Christmas this year (no kids to buy for so I can get away with it).
I have bought all of the stuff well before Xmas so I haven't had to listen to 'White Christmas' once :).
Just got to make it all now. Hubby is already getting fed up because he can't hear the tv over the click, click of my knitting needles ;D (He doesn't know we are staying in all weekend for a chutney, mini Christmas cake cooking frenzy yet ;D)
lol, we making crackers next weekend. ;D0 -
If you've got a Tchibo near you, they have got some christmas decorations coming in next week (different offers every week - changes on a Wednesday)
Check out the website https://www.tchibo.co.uk
I haven't even started Chrimbo shopping yet - apart from cards. I've thought about it, but it's not quite the same as actually getting out there & doing it is it? I'd really like to buy everyone a book from Amazon or similar. How simple would that be?0 -

ooooooooo noooooooooooooooo! You musn't have heard it for a long time - you dont know what you're missing
I cant wait to hear 'White Christmas' ;D ;D ;D ;D
I work in retail so appreciate how some of you dont like/enjoy it but I absolutely LOVE the hustle and bustle of Christmas. We've had our Chrismas CD to play instore today & I think it maybe a bit early for some? Not for me though ;DSometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -
Oh Quackers, doesn't it drive you scranny though by Christmas Eve especially if they play it on a loop. Shop workers should receive compensation for that kind of mistreatment IMO ;DLife's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0
