OS ways to combat feeling 'run down'

I am so GLAD I started this post. I think all the ideas are worth doing.
So, Alhough it was tennish before I showered and dressed and I was feeling bad about that, I suddenly realised I'd done 2 loads of washing and a third in. I decided to do a quick clean up and dusted and vacuumed, though it is a small house - for which I'm grateful.
This afto I took the dawg for a walk, saw a woman just going into the local docs and asked her what they were like as I think it is more sensible to have GP's a few minutes walk away rather than 2 bus rides. She said they are very nice.
Got back and read some more threads - including those suggested by pink. I phoned my hairdresser and made an appointment to have some colour. She's going to fit me in a cut before she goes on holiday so that will be nice.
Tomorrow or Thursday I'm thinking of going to do a charity shop crawl in town. I am also going to buy a summer dressing gown, I've seen some nice ones in M&S - I might also have a sneaky look around TKMaxx as they are next door.
I think it is a case of having something planned for each day - it doesn't matter how small. I've got a top I made that needs to be taken in so I'll do that one day this week. I think I might find some fabric to make another.
Now I'm going to think of something for dinns.0 -

You are sounding much better already, I think you have hit the nail on the head, have something planned each day, it doesn't matter what it is, but it gives you a reason to get up/dressed and on with the day, it works for me, the house was cleaned before the children went to school this morning so I could finish staining the garden fence, tomorrow I gonna deep clean the childrens bedrooms - I could be there sometime:eek: .
Enjoy your charity shop shopping tomorrow, every Thursday I go into town and hit the charity shops, then treat myself to a daft priced coffee and a muffin in the cafe bar, my treat for the week."Wisdom doesn't automatically come with old age. Nothing does, except wrinkles. It's true, some wines improve with age. But only if the grapes were good in the first place." — Abigail Van Buren0 -
Fresh air and some exercise usually work for me!
Another one is to go through some old photo albums - looking at photos of my kids growing up and my grandkids helps my spirits.
Somebody else mentioned 'laughing at a comedy and Billy Connolly' - I've got some old tapes (as well as CD's) recordings of his and they absolutely crack me up with laughter. Mike Harding and Jasper Carrott both work for me as well :rotfl: .
I would urge anybody though, please don't think that alcohol helps - it doesn't! Although it may help you forget a problem for a short while, it's actually a depressant and will leave you feeling much more down when the effects eventually wear off - because the problem will still be there.0 -
It's often the case when there are problems, somehow we deal with them and then have to face the aftermath of 'run down'.............body's way of resting after the adrenalin, needed to deal with the initial stress, has gone.
For me a bit or retail therapy at the charity shops does a lot...........a few items for very few pounds and I feel really well off - just for a while.
Talking to a friend helps a lot too..........especially one who's been in that same position so you know will understand.
'Me' time..............well for me it would be doing exactly what I felt like at that particular time.............could be painting, laying in bed, watching mindless tele, listening to music............eating what I want (including junk food which I know is a bit naughty ).............chocolate............oh all sorts when I think about it.
I wish you well mm...................not a nice feeling to have and hope you feel better soonMary

Hi Moaners
I'm thinking that it is not surprising you are feeling "down" now - after having a particularly busy and stressful period which has gone on for some time. I know that one myself - and it does take a lot out of you.
I think a lot of the suggestions given so far are a good starting point. To me - I think you maybe need to spend a couple of weeks or so "indulging yourself" a bit - I suspect that (like myself) this isnt something you are particularly used to doing and feel a bit guilty about when you do. But sometimes we need it - we are human.
I am wondering - after that - whether you might be able to stretch financially to a long weekend at Dartmoor perhaps (I recall you mentioning how you liked it before). Even if Mr Moany cant manage to come too - then it could be that a weekend of scenery/walks/etc in a couple of weeks time might do you the power of good.
Longer-term - I recall before you asked me for my permission to write an article about my "Simplifying" thread - well - my suggestion there is that I think it could be useful for people to have the ideas/inspirations that have come up there presented in a co-ordinated fashion. It's something I would quite like to do myself - but cant see when I would find the time (still got that dreaded j*b to do). I would rather like personally to see this done anyway and generally made available - and, if there is any question of some magazine, newspaper, whatever being prepared to pay for our "collective wisdom" - then, as it has been a product of many minds, have the money from this donated to charity (my personal preference would obviously be an environmental one - but I am thinking what might find universal favour would be something like Oxfam or Christian Aid - to help with setting the "starving" of this world on their feet a bit).
So - there is a possible longer-term project that I am suggesting to you that you might like to consider. You are obviously an organised and highly intelligent person (gawd - hope that doesnt come over the wrong way - but you know what way I mean it Moaners:D ). As such - I think you might like a possibly useful project like this.
love

Hi MM,
I like to search youtube for outtakes of my favourite shows. There are some real bloopers on there that can really hit your funny bone, (especially if it's supposed to be serious).
I also have a couple of cockatiels, so when I found the cockatiel singing th starwars theme - that really sent me off the rails (he's sooooooo cute!)
Just remember to turn up your speakers for the full effect!
