Ex's debt

In April 2005 I separated from EX OH, in June 2005 we sold the house and split the proceeds. We wrote a list of all the debts and whose name they were in, by coincidence virtually 50% of the debts were in each of our own names except the joint bank account which was OD by £1300, he agreed to add that to his list of responsibilities and received financial settlement so he could do so. He paid off most of his debts but chose not to pay this OD off as he wanted to spend some of the money on himself. It remained in joint names which I did nothing about for a while as I wanted to reclaim bank charges.I did all the legwork for reclaiming and the bank changed the address they held to mine because of all the letters. We were successful and I gave him his half, which again was enough to pay off OD but he chose not to. I then asked him to change the address back to his which he said twice he had done and indeed i never got any bank statements since last year.
I got a final demand for the OD to be paid off this week its now £1490. He has moved away (about 150 miles) and I don't have his new address. Our son (age 17) does not have his new address "but knows how to get there". We know the town and county but thats it. I have text him twice asking him for address but no reply. He never pays his mobile bills and keeps getting cut off so I never know which mobile number is current.
I know where his elderly mother and 2 sisters live ( know there address es but we haven't spoken since separation) but don't know what to do for the best. My name is still on the bank account as they wouldnt change it until the balance was paid off.
I have spoken to my son and it seems EX OH is going to go bankrupt , I reckon he is trying to disappear from all his debtors.
My judgement is clouded because of emotional issues attatched to this problem, so I would be grateful for you lovely people on here to tell me how it is and what to do next.

Maybe a good start and then you can see their response.
Could you contact Citizens Advice beforehand though?LBM - 30/07/09
