Goodness me! My BBQ's really have been boring... Thanks for all the tips... I have well and truly been put to shame ;-).

Going to make a list now, and compile all the ideas (steal them x)

    Thanks Everyone!

TNG - You forgot to mention your BBQ's are now 'smoke free'...

mmmmm... I am soon to know that feeling!. Mr HoneyPie will remain a smoker!

My list is getting very big for the BBQ.... Think my shopping budget will go out of the window on the next nice day!!... Now I will sit and wait for the clouds to part....

Whilst on the subject of BBQ's I need a new one, and was thinking about getting a 'kettle BBQ'... any good?

Try doing some more exciting salads; I love panzanella which is an italian salad made with left over bread. Or how about tabbouleh with lots of chopped parsley and couscous or bulgar wheat? I also like to do racks of ribs (beef or pork), and lamb kofte kebabs (just mix up minced lamb with some finely chopped onion & parsley and mould onto skewers). Make sure you've got plenty of yummy dips, like homemade salsa or guacamole!

Try Jamie Oliver's BBQ marinade on a leg of lamb or other such big bits of meat, it's lovely! Really good on ribs too, sweet and sticky!!

Life in this world is, as it were, a sojourn in a cave. What can we know of reality? For all we can see of the true nature of existence is, shall we say, no more than bewildering and amusing shadows cast upon the inner wall of the cave by the unseen blinding light of absolute truth, from which we may or may not deduce some glimmer of veracity, and we as troglodyte seekers of wisdom can only lift our voices to the unseen and say humbly "Go on, do deformed rabbit again.....it's my favourite". © Terry Pratchett in "Small Gods"

Try this simple sticky sauce for chicken..
    2 tbsp ketchup
    2 tbsp honey
1 tbsp worcestershire sauce, mix it all together and pour over chicken and cook.
I usually find cooking chicken in the oven is best then putting it on the bbq last to get the flavour!

I usually do marinaded chicken, serve with a choice of wraps or rolls with loads of salad etc. Salad I do a mix of leaves, cucumber, peppers, tomatoes, celery (for those who like it - yak) onions aswell as colesaw, beetroot, other pickles, sauces inc salsa etc.

We try to do something new, the following were really nice

    Vegetable kebabs
    Lamb kebabs
    Shish kebabs
    Fruit kebabs
    Duck breasts
    Crocodile steaks
    Ostrich
Wild boar - as burgers, sausages etc
    Salmon

Then of course the usuals pork, lamb and beef steaks. Sausages. Chicken breasts (marinade well and brush regular to keep moist or wrap in foil to cook).
One day I might be more organised...........

chicken wings are great cooked on a barbeque - they have a higher fat content so stay moist and they cook quickly! We marinade ours in one of these marinades: lemon, olive oil and garlic, teriyaki sauce, piri piri sauce - and they are lovely.

I'm sure that I'm the only person I'm aware of that really doesn't enjoy bbq food :(. I usually resort to a jacket potato (if there are any) with some cheese and coleslaw on it.

May be an idea to perhaps cook some chicken thighs/sausages in the ordinary oven, just in case there are some other [STRIKE]awkward beggars[/STRIKE] bbq phobics like me around
