Hi,
I am guessing that if I can get inspiration from anywhere, then this is the place to find it
.
My idea of a BBQ is sausage, perhaps some 'dry' chicken, some burgers, and the typical salad... Now I know there must be so much more to BBQ's than this... so could anyone please give me some good ideas... whilst trying to live within the moneysaving ethic...
.
My family cringe when I mention a BBQ - saying they can't eat anymore sausage! :rotfl: :rotfl:
Help Please :A

As it happens, there's already been a discussion on BBQs this very day!
Admittedly the focus on the other thread was about doing it for a large number of people, however there are still some good food ideas for you as well.

I thought of this the other day, as I was reminded of the 'Mongolian Barbecue' eateries
have herbs and spices in bowls and let people make their own 'rub' for pieces of chicken or lamb. not too sure of the finer details of this and how exactly it would work, but the people get what they want how they want it, or can experiment
king prawns in a foil 'bag' with chilli garlic coriander and lime?

You can do ribs on a BBQ, Tescos sell some frozen in a packet already marinated, or you could do that yourself with fresh ones.
I like doing fish, wrap in tin foil, add a little butter and let it steam away, delicious!
Chicken skewers are nice.. cubes of chicken, bell pepper, michrooms, slices of onion on a stick.. with bbq seasoning..
Home made burgers..
I also do fried onions and peppers in tinfoil with butter and brown sugar and leave that on there to cook away for half hour, delicious and clean way to add onions to your burgers and sausages, without having to pre fry them or let them go cold.BSC Member 155

Hiya
At a BBQ we have: burgers; pork steaks; chicken breasts/drumsticks with different marinades; sausages with marinades; kebabs with chicken, pork, peppers, onions, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes (be careful with these though ) you could even do a balsamic vinegar reduction to pour over the kebabs; you can put your kebabs into a pitta bread or eat them off the skewer; boiled new potatoes with butter and spring onions or baked potatoes, or even ratatouille or corn on the cobs.
You can BBQ fish, if your family like that
Baked bananas (wrap in foil) and serve with chopped nuts, chocolate/toffee sauce; mashmallows on sticks; fruit kebabs
Ooooh!!!!Pineapple  Wrap some pineapple in foil with some brown sugar and a touch of rum and serve with ice cream.
Took me so long to post that four others got there first  but I hope that helps a wee bit0 -

Some of my regulars:
Salmon marinaded in lime juice, olive oil and coriander or dijon mustard and lemon juice.
Chicken, red onion and cherry tomato tandoori kebabs.
Pepper, red onion, cherry tomato, courgette and mushroom kebabs (rub with olive oil and a bit of salt a pepper before skewering).
Cous-cous or pasta salad.0 -
