    Thanks everyone.

Ceridwen- thats given us a different perspective to look from, thank you.

I don't suppose anyone has any experience with a union that represents employees from the tool hire industry? I did a quick google but i've come away a bit confused (nothing unusual there, lol)

I've just found our something else too- OH's area manager in no uncertain terms (verbally) encouraged OH to make these calls to the customers, so i think the area manager may be deliberately holding off so he doesn't get implimented.

I personally think OH should find a job somewhere where he'll be supported and appreciated

Many people think "Oh, I don't need a Union". If they wish to make that judgement, then fine, but they need to stick with it when the going gets hard. Because, if things do start to go wrong, you are on your own. It's then too late to join, because if you expect to get help, you are actually leeching on the subs of members prior to you joining. You are not leeching on 'the Union', you are leeching on colleagues. Harsh to say. But I have benefitted from joining, which solved a difficult situation shortly after, but a colleague in the same position was not accepted by the union when he applied after the problems started.
After the uprising of the 17th June The Secretary of the Writers Union
Had leaflets distributed in the Stalinallee Stating that the people
Had forfeited the confidence of the government And could win it back only
By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier In that case for the government
    To dissolve the people
    And elect another?
