Need Advice on Cetelem/Lowell's Problem

Hi, I'm new to these boards but have been reading for a while
In 2005 I took out a 12 month credit agreement from novatech for a new laptop, which was through cetelem, but then like a fool forgot to pay it so I got put on their 29.8% yearly job.
So in 2006 i began paying out £55.84 a month, since then i've moved house and lost the paperwork relating to the agreement. This month cetelem didn't take any money from me, so eventually I found their number (the website no longer works) and rang them about it, except they can't help me because they don't own the account anymore, they say either barclays or lowells has it.
This afternoon I rang barclays partner finance and they have no record of me at any address i've lived at. Then lowells, no idea who I am either.
What I definately do not want is a bill from either party a year or so down the line for a ridiculous amount of money, for all I know the account might be settled, as far as I can remember the laptop was bought early jan 2005, and payments started coming out of my bank via DD jan/feb 2006.
I'm quite happy to set up a DD or pay the balance remaining but I just can't seem to find out who I owe money to, or IF I owe money to them, I've had no phone calls, no letters, no nothing.
Maybe i'm just paranoid but i'm really worried this is going to turn into one rather large headache

Thanks, I will do that! I'd rather know exactly whats going on than have this hanging over me for a while
P.S.
When I receive these reports, If it doesn't say the account is settled, will it tell me who is dealing with it?
Thanks0 -
Ok, this may be a ray of light on the problem i'm having.
Just checked my DD list on my old bank account and it looks like a company called Allied International have set up a DD with the reference of my old Cetelem Account. I had to cancel it as the account has no money in it, should I ring them with my new details or wait for them to contact me ?
Also, has anyone got a number for them? there's a lot of 'allied's on google, I want to make sure I get the right one :rotfl:
Cheers0 -
My girlfriend answered the phone to them this afternoon while I was at work, shame I wasn't there as I really want to get in touch to get this sorted. She said they weren't unpleasant to her which is good, I was kinda worried after reading on here about them! Will give them a bell on monday and should hopefully be as simple as giving them my acc number and sort code.
All the best0
