Believe me with 6 in the family £70 wouldn't have covered Yorkgate.:rotfl:
Will have to go to Soda Joes instead.0 -
The place was never the same after it was refurbished - ended up like a big canteen. The quality of the food and the service made closure inevitable. We used to go every week but knocked that on the head after a couple of bad experiences.0

I'm not surprised-the last time we ate in there the food was diabolical-we had to complain that the OH's fish was frazzled stupid, and there were a lot of other people complaining as well
the Lisburn one was not as bad,but still very disappointing.....Harry Ramsden's seems to be in a bit of a decline over here at the moment0 -
Last year we were passing Harry Ramsden in Otley and DH suggested we went in.
We had visited the ones in Glasgow, Manchester and Blackpool years ago and they were very nice so we expected a decent meal.
It was foul!!! When they asked if we wanted to look at the dessert menu we said No and just could not get out of there quick enough.
I noticed that they did not have a coach outside but another fish restaurant a mile down the road did!
Coach drivers aren't daft, even when offered a free meal to bring in customers they still will not eat there."This site is addictive!"

You should have complained to head office. They are pretty generous with gift vouchers to customers who complain.0

The HR building in Yorkgate has now been demolished. I wasn't surprised to see it closed down as it had really gone downhill, the food was rotten.Norn Iron Club member 273:beer:0

closure possibly due to my feedback at a mystery shop earlier in the year. The staff were pleasant enought but we couldn't even finish our food or our drinks off the food was dire-vile. I wanted to be nice but I couldn't even rate the food as average0

hopefully something else better will come along. It was the terrible service that we had last time, we had arrived in half an hour before closing, and they took ages to serve us. Halfway through our main course they politely asked us to hurry up as they were closing, and hat we couldnt see the desert menu. we would have preferred thay had told us at the very stert. the waitresses all looked annoyed at having to serve us. it ruined our meal.0

Harry Ramsdens is perhaps the classic example of franchising gone wrong. For those familar with West Yorkshire (Guiseley in particular) that was the home of the original. It was a favoured coach destination for many years. As far as I remember the original owners died/sold or similar in the late 1980's. The plan was to turn the brand into a global force via the franchising model. Their problem has always been consistency and hence their downfall. You/me may pour scorn at McDonalds and Burger King but they have cracked the consistency issue.0
