  • unplug your monitor the video card and make sure hey are no bent pins.

check what colour the monitor is dislaying ie is it green or orange ?

Plug it back in and strat the pc up, do you get any display at all.?

If you get the black & white dos screen it could be set for a mode that your video card cant use.

Best thing to do is try and boot it up in safe mode (press the F8 key when booting and you should get a menu) - and then change the refresh rate

This happened to me once and I was flumuxed, so I just switched off waited a minute or so and tried again and fortunately it came on, and has never happened again. :)

But I also agree with payneardo's idea if the other didn't work, is it an old monitor ??? if not how many times has it happened ???

    Good Luck anyway. ;)

I had this ages ago - I looked at the monitor cable that plugs into the PC (or maybe the port it plugs into) and noticed a pin was missing (or shorter than the others).

I clipped a stable in half and pushed it into the corrrespondong hole, plugged in the monitor and it starting working again!
  • you have probably inserted the cable the wrong way around at one time. some sockets will allow the cable to be pushed into them incorrectly. use a pair of eye tweezers to tease the pin out if possible.

  • Have you tried it with another monitor? If that works, it looks like your monitor had seen better days.
