Debt because of "friend" - Help

Options
Hi eveyone,

Are you able to help and give some advice on the below please???

About 3 years ago, I was living with my best friend. He got into debt and I took out some loans to help him, however he then started taking out some credit cards in my name and using them.
When I found out, I was annoyed but have been paying them off ever since (all but one) so, for the past 3 years.
We now live apart and he refuses to take responsbility of these debts and I am stil paying them back each month.
Today I recieved a debt collection letter for the one company he was meant to be paying (Capital One) and having called them they either want the full £5000 now or £250 a month. I have called my friend but he says he cant help!
My parents have found out too.

Thing is,..what can I do about this as I have been paying it for some many years...can I go to the Police? Would they care, or is it a cival matter?

Help! Thanks.

  • it's fraud and you really should have reported him to the police as soon as you found out.
i'd still talk to them and see if anything can be done.

he can't be that good of a friend to treat you like that, he's basically stolen your good credit from you.
