Barclaycard 'we don't amend default dates' post bankruptcy!

Mmm, 3 weeks ago I sent a recorded letter to Barclaycard in Northampton; asking them to enter the correct default details. Today, I felt really fed up of their lack of response, so I rang a number at 'Barclay's and the woman who was very helpful gave me the credit reference dept's phone number.
I got through, she said to me, oh yes we are going to tell the CRA's to mark it as satisfied, well me thinks that's good.
I then ask, well you have the default date incorrect? She said, 'only by a few weeks' we don't amend the date to the bankruptcy date!!!! I said 'sorry that is not correct, the ICO states it has to be the same date as the bankruptcy' She says hold on I will check this with someone. Comes back and says 'sorry you have it wrong':mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
I could tell I was not going to get anywhere with this person, so should I print out a copy from the ICO website on this matter? Send it to them?
Anyone else had this with Barclay's?
Thanks for reading my rather frustrating post!

If you sent the letter in the sticky, then you've sent them it already. The relevant extracts from the ICO's website are quoted after the main body of the letter.
I would ask for written confirmation that they won't change it. If you decide to complain to the ICO, written confirmation of their deliberate disregard of the ICO's guidelines will make first class evidence in the complaint.;)Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Dont talk to me about Barclaycard, lol! Had so much grief trying to get them to agree to update the account to satisfied/settled. Eventually got them to do this but the date was incorrect...then they ignored all my letters(sent recorded, so i reported them to the Ico,in which they updated the information correctly.
8 months on,ordered credit file, and they have stuck it back on there again, it now has default and a balance of £XXXX!! Sent em a letter, got ignored, so got in contact with the Ico,and they have not responded to them either!
It has now been passed onto a regulatory division, who decide whether to criminally or not criminally prsecute the ccompnay for incoorrect data. Just waiting to see what happens now!
Get in contact with the Ico, leave it with them.0 -
There are two or three of my creditors that keep telling me they've updated my records, yet when I look at my credit files with all three credit reference agencies they are repeatedly wrong. I'm going to send them a final letter advising them again of the ICO's guidelines. I'm going to give them 14 calendar days in which to get my file correct, otherwise a complaint will be going to the ICO without further reference to them.
The ICO needs to see that you've given them the chance to correct your file & they haven't done so, but we shouldn't have to spend months trying to get them to do things the ICO expects of them. The ICO has got a backlog of 4-5 months at the moment, but at least them dealing with it sets the ball rolling for a far more serious penalty to be imposed further down the line.BSC #53 - "Never mistake activity for achievement."

I agree. You can spend a lot of time going round in circles if you aren't careful.
Stick to the time scales that allow the creditor a reasonable time to correct the files, and if they don't it goes to the ICO.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Then after they have updated your credit files, do keep checking back every now and then to make sure the default hasnt gone back on the account!! ( this has happened on a few of mine!)
Also make sure the date of default is the date of the bankruptcy order! Im still trying to get one creditor to update this correctly..complained to experian, who said the creditor wishes me to send proof of bo and discharge( which i have sent to them 4 times!) Its getting silly!0 -
If this is the case Sassy then I would suggest you report them to the ICO, you've given them enough chances.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0

I have done, the Ico has passed all the accounts over to the regulatory division now.0
