sorry CCJ is a county court judgement, if id read your post bit more thoroughly wouldnt have noticed that you sid you were up to date with everything.
somethings to consider,
open a bank account with a different branch and have money paid into this,
You mention not wanting to affect your credit rating, are you planning on needing credit for anything in the short to mid term? like a mortgage?
If not, and possibly youve not been using credit for a while, then if you could cope without it then a free DMP doesnt have many downfalls that i could think of0 -

Can you explain why this please? I'm afraid I am pathetic...You mention not wanting to affect your credit rating, are you planning on needing credit for anything in the short to mid term? like a mortgage?
Too old for a mortgage and not sure I'd want one anyway :rotfl:I was thinking of getting a mobility scooter so I can get out and about more, but it's not high on my list of priorities at the moment, not until I've got this debt down.
I have been trying to get work i can do from home but to date nothing, apart from a GFK television survey thing but it only enters you itno a prize draw each month.April2008.Total debt £4353.55. (Loan £649.80; NW CC £370.51; PO CC £1300; catalogue £188.96; Argos card £344.28); Overdraft £1500.0 -
if you opened a bank account at a different branch then you would be able to treat the overdraft as just another debt, but more importantly (I notice you also have a loan with natwest) if the worse came to the worse and you started missing payments it would stop natwest from using any money paid in to pay for the loan you have - i.e if the money is with a different branch you have more control over where its spent.
Not pathetic to ask I dont always explain things that well - and may not have done above..again.
Think that if your getting DLA mobility component you may be able to get soem help towards something like a mobility scooter or other adapted vehicle not 100% but will try and check at work tomorrow and post some links for you tomorrow.

What reservations or other worries/concerns do you have about a DMP0 -
droopinlily, i feel so bad for you. It is not your fault you are now not able to work so please do not be so hard on yourself. I can also see how hard it would be falling into debt when you have quite a tight budget. This site is good and there are lots of good people who give great advice. Good luck!0

Do you currently get the disabled persons car tax?
http://www.disabledinfo.co.uk/dis/51-car-tax-road-tax-vehicle-excise-duty-exemptions-fo.asp0 -
Thanks everyone. As you can see, I am having trouble sleeping again.
I know about motability and how you can use it to get a scooter but they do take your money to pay for it. At the moment I simply cannot afford to lose a penny, so until I can it's a no go.
Yes I am exceedingly lucky to get help with road tax.. there are some nicer points to being disabled (I've found you have to concentrate on the good points and try not to let the bad ones get you down).
I've been trying to work out how I can move my direct debits for the household bills into my other bank account that used to be my emergency fund but has just £6 in it keeping it open now. It seems a good idea to do that - can't remember who suggested it but thanks - but how do I move the direct debits over? (I can't even remember my PIN number for this account, that's how long its been since I used it).
So, just to recap - if I did this, I could put a weekly sum into that account only for the direct debits and watch my overdrfat diminish? slowly but surely eh?
am I on the right track?
Would it be a good idea to ask the Post office Mastercard people if I could have help by whatever they could do? or do I just carry on like I am while I am managing to pay the minimum?
having read through this forum can I say I realise I haven't got an awful lot of problems, I feel really sorry for some of you as you struggle along. If I win the lottery (not that I will as I don't buy it) i shall be handing out tenners to you all.:p
One final thing before I try to sleep - don't ever be like me and spend all your hard earned cash thinking you will go on with no problems, I wish i'd have saved a hell of a lot more instead of enjoying it, not realising I'd be blooming disabled.April2008.Total debt £4353.55. Hi droopinlily
Just a quick one on work you can do at home - Deya are recruiting people to phone up and check Yellow Pages have been delivered - mainly done in the early evening - see http://www.deya.co.uk/index.aspx?pageref=5130 - I worked for them last year delivering the YPs and they seem well organised and OK to work for.
Good luck with it allTotal debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -

About insuring the car for your son to drive - does he have his own car? The reason for asking is that if he does, he can probably drive your car with 3rd party insurance under his own insurance policy. Of course that only works if he does have a car, and you'd have to check the policy but I thought it might be worth mentioning?0

Hi,
Just wanted to drop in and say hello. The amount of debt you have is not huge, but is a lot to have to worry about on a fixed income. I think you are probably feeling a bit overwhelmed with it all at the moment. You will get great advice and information on here, but you then have to fit it to your own circumstances and this can be a bit overwhelming as well.
Perhaps give yourself a few days reading and posting and then make a list of the things you think might help you most, and work your way through them. I wonder if it is possible for you to have another benefits review with CAB or a Welfare Advisor just to check you are definitely getting all you are entitled to. Benefit rules do change, for example someone mentioned the amount of your HB top up.
Remember it is tiny steps that will improve your situation. Also don't know if this helps but those taxes you paid all the years you and hubby were working are funding your benefits now, you aren't getting freebies!
Good luck and please keep posting, I would love to know how you get on.
