Today I petitioned my bankruptcy in the Royal Courts of Justice! I know I'm in good company! I thought I would come back and share my experience because some things have changed.
I can't believe what a good night's sleep I had last night and I have not worried over this one little bit - that is thanks to you all over the past several months sharing your own experiences but still I was surprised that I wasn't even the teeniest bit nervous. Okay, I got to Charing Cross at 8:15 and took a slow walk to the court, emptying the last of my bank account along the way. Then I went to find the building I needed to go to and waited there until 10:00 and thought, this is great I'm second in the queue but I forgot about paying the fees so I had to trek all the way to pay those! ergh!!! Thankfully it didn't take long and I ran back to submit my application. Only 4 people in front of me now. The clerk went through my forms and was told to come back at 2:30. I decided to have lunch and walk through Holborn and got back to the court aabout 1:30 and had a Starbucks across the street.
There were so many BR's today that the forms weren't ready at 2:30 but it didn't take much longer for the clerk to call my name and that was it. Now I just wait for a phone call from the OR. You no longer have to go to their offices on the day which was a relief because I was ready to get home by this point.
So now I am officially bankrupt and I'm going to plug my phone back in! What an exhausting day, but as everyone has said it wasn't stressful and everyone was pleasant.

Glad it's done and dusted and happy to hear no OR visit on the day any more - that seemed a bit of a waste of every one's time anyway imho.
Also nice that its a very nice day indeed in London today - perhaps an omen that it's all looking up from here
Congrats.Do not feed the trolls please.0 -

I think I just made it so that I won't have a nil tax code (think today was the last day!)

Well done! Hope you have a chance to sit and relax tonight. And look forward to (politely) telling the first creditor who calls to bog off

Misery likes company - that's why we're all on here :beer:0 -
Apparently Citi phoned me and my son told them I wasn't home! I was looking forward to that! Although I wasn't at all nervous going to court today - and it was the RCJ! I still get butterflies speaking to creditors but I am looking forward to just the same.
