I was contacted by this company about 18 months ago about a loan i took out for finance about 12 years ago. I began paying them back up until sept just gone when i was unable to afford continuing.
I have since moved house and have not told them about where i live. The loan no longer shows up on my credit record, but obviously i have acknowledeged it in the past 6 years.
Should i wait for them to find me and then re-arrange some payment plan rather than contact them? I would like to get it paid but have other more pressing things to pay for. Are they likely to try and bankrupt me or will they just go through the process of finding me again? How can this affect my credit score now?
Also how can i be sure they will honor the payments i have already made if it is passed over to another agency? can i demand a statement of some sort from them?
Any advice would be wonderful!!

These are the worst sort of debt collectors you can get and will stop at nothing to recover the money. They try harrassment over the phone sending you lots of letters stating 'it the final warning'. I would suggest that you get back in contact as an unresolved debt will eventually bite you in the bottom. However i suggest that you give them a mobile number for initial lines of communication as you can always switch it off if they upset you (Guarenteed). At the end of the day its your decision but due you really want them turning up when your grey and old and trying to pry money out of your hands.
Ps yes you can get a statement from them reference all payments you have made so far but beware they may have added charges since you 'disappeared'. If they have say you are not willing to accept the charges and hang up then try again a week later until they get the picture.0
