Having read your post, I just wanted to let you know how brave you have been for coming in here and sharing your story with everyone. I know a little bit about internet gambling, I once had a quick go on betfred roulette with a little win my hubby had on the football...I won £500! I spent the lot back in about two days followed by about £200 of bill money! Lost it all and never bothered again...lol...I can so see how it could take over your life tho, for those few days I had roulette vision.:o
The best thing you could have done is face it, that's half the battle, you are activly seeking to remedy a bad situation, and looking at the wealth of advice you have been given, you will succeed.
Hope your story has a happy ending, and is a salutory lesson for anyone thinking a harmless £10 flutter is harmless.

    March 3rd...finally got real...debts of £46,819! I will overcome this:eek:

    Thanks :):)

Well i've made good progress towards sorting myself out in the last 24 hours. Last night I went to Gamblers Anonymous. I was really nervous about walking in but they were brilliant. Two of the members immediately took me off for a chat and then I joined the rest of the meeting. I've got a sponsor, and we're meeting on Saturday to talk more about everything. I'm so glad I went - it made me realise that although gambling is a serious addiction / illness, it can be sorted out and it doesn't have to be doom and gloom forever. I am sure there will be tough times ahead with temptation and everything and one good meeting doesn't mean i'm 'cured', but at least i'm on the right path.

And then this morning I had my phone appointment with CCCS. I spoke to a brilliant woman, she was supportive, knew lots and lots and was totally non-judgemental. They've recommended making token payments to creditors for now, as things might change in the next few months (getting a job, lump sum payment etc), but that BR might be the only way forward in the long term.

After the call I realised how exhausted I was (I guess I relaxed a bit for the first time in ages) and fell asleep on the sofa for a few hours. :D

:T Well done Susie:T Well done on going to the GA meeting and taking control. Yes you may have a slip up but then again you may not.

I'm glad CCCS were able to help you and gave you useful advice.

Keep posting and talking to us, it's surprising how much it helps and if you do slip up there is lots of people who will support you through it.

    HI Suzie

Your post has really moved me and I'm so glad you went to GA and "enjoyed" it last night. One thing I wondered was have you told your sisters about the position you are in? They sound like a great support and these things are always better handled if someone close to you knows about it so they can ask you about, my boyfriend does it when I want something "yummy" which might not be great for my diet!

Wishing you well for the future as you've had loads of good advice.
