Vacuum Cleaner

Mine has given up the ghost after 12 years. Is it worth paying more for a dyson, or are the cheaper ones better/as good? Can anyone recommend me a good one? I'd rather it wasn't to havy as we have a lot of stairs, but is good at sucking up if you know what i mean.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

160.

I've recently replaced my old Hoover with a Panasonic - same shape and workings as the Dyson but a lot cheaper. It is very light in weight and easy to empty. It was about £79.99 from Tesco online.

I had a Dyson DC01 which I loved. It lasted 7 years before dying on me. I loved it so much I only wanted another Dyson. I bought a DC07 and it lasted around 2 years before the motor went!! I wasn't prepared to fork out so much again so we have a Sanyo (same sort of style). It doesn't pick up quite as well as the Dyson did but only cost around £100 so I won't be as cross if that goes after only 2 years.
