Aaaaarrrggghhhhh ... I'm slipping ....

I can feel myself slipping off the wagon and I really need to jump back on .... I got my mobile phone bill today and I seem to have gone absolutely crazy with texting this month and have spent over £60 on texting! That is on top of my free 400 texts a month! Yikes! So now my total mobile bill is £106.98
 instead of the usual £35 a month ...... plus I spent some money last week that I didn't need to ... £100 gone down the drain .... now I am looking at being short this month unless we dip back in the overdraft or can shave some money off the shopping budget. My shopping budget seems to have gone through the roof recently even though I am meal planning and buying value ranges, so we are losing money all over the place. If I don't get back on track now there is no way we will meet our debt free date.
I seem to have relaxed a little since we cleared all the cards and things because there is no urgency any more ... the debts we have left are with DCAs and are years old, and there is no pressure to pay them off. I need to get back to being strict with myself quickly! I want to finish the month breaking even ... so I just need to sit and work out a tighter budget and see if I can make some savings.

The best thing to do is to draw a line under it and realise that you have stopped yourself before it got any worse - you slipped, you realised, you've climbed back on.
Re-juggle everything and you'll feel better about it all.
£60 on texting!!!!!!!! Flippin Nora, did a friend want all the words to War and Peace sending to them??! :rotfl::p

Look at how well you've done, In nearly a year you have managed to pay off just about half! Thats an amazing amount.
One thing I have done though is to give myself a treat every month, then I don't feel the urge to go out and splurge and I really look forward to my treat every month. Don't know if it may help you, but it might be worth budgeting it in then you wont feel as bad.
As for your mobile:eek: how much on texts!!! You must be a really popular girl! Have you looked at that vyke programme that Martin mentioned the other week? It sends them over the internet for a fraction of the costs..... I'll go find the clicky now!

Thanks Keren .... yeah, £60 on texting!!!! I sent 786 texts to one friend alone! I think I'll stick to MSN for chat in future, it's cheaper :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Oh well, like you say, it's done now, and I will keep my thumbs firmly under control this month - no texting :rotfl:  I just hope I can juggle it round enough!Olympic Countdown Challenge #145 ~ DFW Nerd #389 ~ Debt Free Date: [STRIKE]December 2015[/STRIKE] September 2015

Thanks JammieJen, I haven't ever budgeted in for treats or any personal spends - we just wanted to get rid of the debt as soon as possible, so we were prepared to sacrifice treats. Maybe now would be a good time to just allow a little something each month for guilt-free spends ...Olympic Countdown Challenge #145 ~ DFW Nerd #389 ~ Debt Free Date: [STRIKE]December 2015[/STRIKE] September 2015

OK Mrsspendalot, you have confessed your sins to all not we need to keep an eye on you. As said above, draw a line and start again from today.
We all fall off the wagon from time to time, but you've realised it and have decided that enough is enough and you want to do something about it.
YOU CAN DO IT

 whatever happened to the old fashioned art of talking face to face with people? You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky
Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0 -

Thats what I thought as well, try to get as much paid off as quickly as possible, but then I'd be doing my food shop and i'd see a magazine or new make up ect ect ect and end up spending more money on useless stuff!
Now I give myself a certain budget each month, depending on my overtime! That I'm allowed to spend on ME and it really helps with stopping the useless stuff I bought before.
Good Luck as the OPs said at least you realised before it got too bad!

The good thing is I haven't got into more debt ... I haven't put anything on my credit card, it's all come out of the bank ... so I haven't been too naughty ... I'm just really annoyed with myself over the phone bill because it's just such a waste of money

Well if my friends lived in my home town I would talk face to face ... but they all live hundreds of miles away
Anyway, going to stick to MSN messaging now and facebook :rotfl: Olympic Countdown Challenge #145 ~ DFW Nerd #389 ~ Debt Free Date: [STRIKE]December 2015[/STRIKE] September 2015
