    If he has gone with a company or charity rather than self managed he would have signed something to say he would not take further credit out.

    Yep but I pay everything anyway so it makes little difference.
    Sorry if this sounds harsh but so long as you keep doing that, there's no incentive for him to learn to have a more responsible attitude to money.

    Unfortunately true. (Didn't want to be the first to say it though). Enablers share responsibility for the results of enablement.
