They've given DH a new credit card.

:rolleyes::rolleyes:Bloody barclays. He is £11,000 in debt on a DMP with his other three cards but because he paid (make that I paid) his barclaycard off a couple of years ago, they've given him a new one.

  • Is that what they call 'responsible lending'!?!
What is ur DH gonna do with it? Is his determined to pay off his debts that he's already got, or is he a spender like my OH?
And surely, if he is on a DMP, would the lenders not be able to see and consider him a risk? - sorry if thats a silly question, I have no experience with DMPs:o

Since you paid Barclaycard off the last time, you're expected to pay it off this time.

Sounds a bit like our Lloyds cc account. When we paid it off I sent them a letter to close it. Theyve completely ignored the letter and sent us a letter with an increased credit limit and a load of cheques.

If the purchase rate is good, that sounds like a great idea....

You could pay npower, use quidco to change supplier and stick cashback on teh card which may help with interest.

As a matter of interest what rate did he get?

Is he allowed to use additional credit when he is on a DMP?

I thought there was a thread recently by someone who spent £200 on a new MBNA card in similiar circumstances and was then advised that they had committed fraud?

It seems that the threat was being used to try to get them to pay more against the MBNA debt than they did on the DMP.

I know you have paid the Barclaycard off, but I would check with your DMP mananger before using it at all.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
