My Kenwood is the one piece of equipment I could not do without. I could live without my SC and BM and GF but not my Kenwood. I first bought one over 20 years ago and cried when it stopped working. I was so hard up at the time I simply could not afford to take it anywhere to get it fixed. I was thrilled to buy another one for £20 from a charity shop - that one came with a stainless steel bowl. DD bought hers from a carboot - £30 with lots and lots of accessories. Possibly the only student to take a Kenwood to uni with her. While she is abroad this year I am looking after it but as you will have realised by now her attachments don't fit with my machine cos they are different models. Must be my imagination but it seem that the older models are more sturdy. The one that stopped working - got thrown out by builders when I was having a lot of work done on the house - I was livid cos by then I had realised that I could get it fixed.True wealth lies in contentment - not cash. Wow Jo-Anne that was a good buy! Most of our local charity shops won't take electrical goods now due to H & S. I'm off to the car boot tomorrow to see if I can source any accessories!
Yes, I was very pleased to find it, LOL. I think there is only one local charity shop that does take electricals so I was lucky to spot it. Good luck at the car boot - let us know if you strike lucky with accessories0 -
No luck this morning! Will be scouring the charity shops soon.
Right, I've got it, it's working - WHAT SHALL I MAKE?
Anyone got a good cake recipe for making in the Kenwood please?AMAZON SELLERS CLUB MEMBER 0082 :hello:0 -
Sigh, Women and Kenwood chefs!!, ah well, now where was I , oh yes. I thought my wife was confusing after 8 years of marriage untill I strolled into here and saw all the debates about which model to have.
Hi Cat64, Guess what, you gotta love Freecycle havent you, I got mine yesterday from there ( Newbury UK), a 701A model, first thing I did was strip it, grease it throw in new brushes and stick it back together, today I threw the wife out of MY Kitchen and banned her till I had played till sundown on my new toy, now I am going after a 901 for the bits it will take as well as the availabilty of spares still around. My take is that if it has been working for 30-40 years it will last longer, if in 30 years one of todays newer models is still working then maybe I will get one of them then.
Just because its old dont mean it aint valuable or worth having, as they say, many a good tune played on an old fiddle ( funny enough I make violins occasionaly).
Heres to having fun for another 30 years in the kitchen.0
