Hi Mariel, yes it is! Have dropped it in for a service today - thought it might be a good idea to get it checked over with it giving off a funny smell:rotfl:.While I was there I enquired how much a new one was, guy said he wouldn't sell me one as they're rubbish!! He said he'd rather repair the old one as they are much better made. As long as it doesn't cost too much to fix......otherwise could be an expensive freebie:D!

  • Hi
Sometime ago I had acquired 3 Kenwoods that didn't work,DS cannibalised them and got 1 what worked-dead chuffed with himself.
DS-I-L bought a second hand 1 very cheap, which with a good greasing now works very well,DD1 makes bread and luverly cake.
    I am now on second Kenwood(in 36 years of marriage),boght for £30 15 years ago !
    Looking for a mincer now-A920?

Sorry another question! The Kenwood came with three attachments and a bowl - what are the other things you can get with it? I know there are different attachments you can buy and that you can get a liquidiser to go on it. What else? People talk about making mashed potatoes etc - what do you use for that:confused:.

Hi again! Have just phoned shop where I dropped the KC in for a service, the bill was £42!! (Apparently it needed a new base). I'm hoping that if everything is working ok now its still pretty good value. Just will have to make sure I use it a lot now lol.

Congratulations. I kept trying for KC's on a couple of M/C freecycles with no luck. Then in Aug my DH told me to close my eyes and hold out both arms!- he bought me a Kenwood Chef as a belated anniversary pressie:j :j . Its fab. I hope you get as much fun,use and just pure joy out of yours as I get out of mine. Enjoy.

Congratulations on your Kenwood Chef, cat64! :) The cost of the service will be money well spent, I reckon.

I spotted one in a charity shop for £5 so I snapped it up :) I really should use it more, I think. Mine came with some attachments - a blender goblet, a grater/slicer attachment and the usual K-beater, whisk and dough hook. I bought a white glass bowl, a splash guard and dust cover on ebay. It came with a plasticky bowl, but I like the glass one better :) It's worth keeping an eye out for accessories on ebay as you can sometimes pick up a bargain, though you do need to know which model you have (mine's a A901) as I think the fittings are different. Have fun with it! :)

I think £42 is fine - if you bought new you wouldn't get much for that would you? Enjoy!

Wow Jo-Anne that was a good buy! Most of our local charity shops won't take electrical goods now due to H & S. I'm off to the car boot tomorrow to see if I can source any accessories!

Mariel, yes I suppose when you compare it to the price new it's still pretty reasonable. Will have to get using it now :D

  • Well done Cat69. I got my Kenwood off Freecycle last year, came from an elderly couple who had bought it in the 70's, I still love using it and it looks great too!
