Definitely make a 'to-do' list and tick off the things you do as you go along I used to work for a chap years ago and he insisted that all the staff did this You don't have to do everything on the list straight away, but it does help as you can see what you have acheived over the day.
I have a small one by my kettle next to my tiny shopping list (Buy only what you need not what you fancy) at the end of the day give yourself a treat for getting things done whether its a nice cuppa and feet up for half an hour, or a long hot bath with lots of scented stuff in it .
My treats usually involve feet up and a good read of an un-put-downable book If I have one of those I make myself do some jobs before I sit down for a read or they would never get done:) we all have days when we CBA'ed but its not a hanging offence, just your body saying 'give me a break'
Hospital wears one out, I know you think your resting and relaxing but I have found hospitals are the most exhausting places .Peace and quiet at home in your own surrounding to recuperate is far better for anyone Just take your time and do things at your own pace .You will soon be back to the swing of things and if you don't feel up to doing much then don't it will still be there tomorrow, and if you knock yourself out, you won't be
Good luck and I hope you feel better soon

Thank you to all of who replied, I understand what everyone is saying. Normally I am very much a list person (they are almost coming out of my ears lol:)).
I have a hospital appointment this afternoon and think they will say I can go back to work soon so will need to get back into a regime of early to bed early to rise. I also need to learn to have chill out time and enjoy it. Love the idea of some scented time in the bath Jackie O, tend to have showers so a bath would be a real treat :j
I have tried to do some knitting/crochet since I have been off and even did a little baking at the weekend.
And of course I have set a lot of time on MSE and doing some surveys , which has been really great and given me new ideas which I hope to put into practise.:j:j
Thank you all again

Interested in you "early to bed, early to rise" comment. Sometimes resting can make you feel more lethargic, even though it's what you need, because it reduces the quality of your sleep. Getting back into a routine with active and sleeping times (as soon as you're properly up to it) may let your sleep be more effective.
Good luck with your recovery

I had 5 months off sick last year, bizarelly the thought of returning to work kept me going but didn't take long for that to wear off when I went back :-DI love food, hate waste and have a penchant for sparkly things ::D
Trying to find a work life balance...:rotfl:0 -
I get sort of influenced by things I watch or read. A household manual gets me going, as does watching things like "The Victorian Farm". Suddenly I jump up and feel like doing something efficient. The BBC costume dramas get me cosying up with my knitting!0

I've been off since November and I'm now at the stage of "well enough to be bored but not well enough to work". I've set myself a mission of using ingredients out of the freezer or storecupboard everyday. This then leads onto a flurry of recipe creating and web searches for the more obscure ingredients. I'm also doing a lot of scrapbooking and cardmaking using all my current stash so that when I go back to work, I can buy some of the new releases without feeling guilty0

GQ
Hi GQ
Thank you for your reply
I am normally a very early riser (5am) but since I have been unwell this has crept to 8-9am  so I'm trying to get back to about 7am as a start.
Still go go to bed reasonably early 10-10.30 although have to admit MSE can be addictive so will confess to a few late nights lol.
But I know I need to start getting off my butt a bit more and try to do a bit more during the day which I hope to achieve soon.
Thanks again

LOL I can totally relate to this as I was off for 9 months a coupe of years ago. Hope you are well now xx
Even after this relatively short period have to admit I'm not looking forward to going back, although I have "kept in touch with things by logging on each day" (very naughty I know)

Hi Pigpen
To be honest I think Im a lazy lump (have put weight on again since I have been off but could be due to meds:p)
Have looked at flylady but think I am more of a messie (was on that thread last year:D)
But from tomorrow as I said earlier need to get off my butt and do some bits round the house (within reason)
