Hello! Just been checking out your thread. In similar financial position, good salary ... no cash. I have about the same disposeable income and although it seems loads .... goes nowhere!! Good luck with tightening your belt further, Im with ou all the way! Tough but has to be done. Did my usual sainsburys shop at Aldi yesterday ... halved the amount I usually spend and so far so good taste wise!!! I also buy my contact lenses online for cheaper plus theres no direct debit, you need to get a prescription from optician as normal though (about 20 quid a time) GOOD LUCK XXX0

Hey, thanks for this ... nice to hear that we're in the same boat ... money management was all a blur before and have been a real impulsive credit card shopper ... very reactionary ... felt like a bit of a fraud before and was being hard on myself as was thinking that with my salary I should be doing better. Is amazing how 'high level' my spreadsheets were before getting advice on here, I'm madly updating at the moment and am starting to see where my money really goes !!! ... which site do you get your lenses from?
This forum is the best ... good luck to you too xxLightbulb moment: 1st Jan 2008

Yeah ... Is scary to come off the porperty ladder though ... the flat is in London too ... will never be able to afford to get in to the London market again ... probably just have to get my head around that idea .. you're right though
I wouldn't sell a London flat - try and balance the financing instead. Can you negociate a lower agent charge (I pay my letting agent 9%). What sort of BTL mortgage do you have? Can you find a better one without penalty?0 -

Thanks to everyone for the independent scrutiny .... Have already saved myself £75 p/m just from the Sky downgrade to the free sky service and the gym membership cancellation ... once I get the contact lenses down I'll be laughing ... I'm so happy :jLightbulb moment: 1st Jan 2008

Don't know if it's naughty, immoral or what
but I wouldn't bother with the three months' notice on gym.
Make up an excuse and cancel the dd. When I was told this by my old gym, I either said I had to move to the other end of the country immediately for personal reasons / I'm pregnant and can't use the gym to the extent that I would like to etc etc. (can't remember what I actually said now).
Are they really going to chase you for the money once you've cancelled the dd?Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

Glad to hear you're well on track
Another way to save yourself some money is by getting your food bill down. I spend about £180 a month (£30 of that is milk for my son!) thats for 3 adults and a toddler so im sure you could get it down
Good luck.xxx 'They only had one cow!'0 -
Guys,
Can you set up a standard signature with all your goals/ achievements in it ... or do you have to do it manually/ or copy and paste with each mail?
