    are the contacts monthly pairs?
    as you can get monthly pairs, coloured for like a tenner so i'd expect the standard ones to be a little cheaper
    might be worth a look, there are some good ones via quidco that i've used in the past and have had no issues as yet *touch wood*

    also, do you have PPI on your loan, cos you may be able to get that removed thus lowering the total payback amount
    there are some PPI re-claim threads on here, they give you templates and advice to see if your eligable to re-claim like
  • Hi, the first things that spring to mind with me are
    - cheaper contact lenses online, I got toric ones for £6.50 a month last year, was paying £20 with optician
    - gym - I think you know what to do! Go for a walk, run or get a bike on freecycle/ebay. We got a weights set for free off my brother
    - buy to let - I have 2 buy to let properties, are you tied to a contract with letting agent? If not, £60 a month saving there instantly.

    £350 -
    Food = £
    Petrol = £
    MOT = £ - when do it get paid?
    Tax = £ - same as above
    Social life = £
    Clothes = £
    Car repaires = £

    EDIT - take the £50 out of the £350 and have it down seperately

    This is better than therapy !!

    Also have you played around with the snowball, i think its whatsthecost.com.
    you can play around with your debts and APR's and see what difference you get by paying off higher interst sooner.
    You're not your * could have not of * Debt not dept *

    Min payment on M&S is £23.36 ... so I'm really overpaying on that ... RBS is about £50 ish (don't have paperwork with me at work) .... Is PPI loan insurance? If yes, then no, I don't have any payment protection ... not even on my car loan ....

    Just sent an email to cancel my gym membership - thanks all ... have to give 3 months notice though :mad:

    £25 a month on food :eek:
  • Rent £750 Would renting a cheaper place be an option?
    Council Tax £89
    Mortgage £887.09 Would selling up be an option? Would there be equity?
    Life Assurance £27.47 IS this the cheapest you can get?
    Powergen (Gas & Elec) £46
    TV licence £11.37
    British Gas Cover £21 Have you ever used this, is your boiler old? If not, cancel.
    Gym £56 Cancel and get an exercise bike off freeview or take up a sport :D
    Water £6.48
    TMobile £20
    Contact lenses £18.5 Get glasses? That'd save you £18.50 a month... (can you tell I wear glasses? ;))
    Land line £ 15 What about your internet costs?
    Sky £19 If you're not in a minimum term, cancel and go freeview. Same crap on but it'll save you £19 a month ;)
    Annual Bills (Car Service, car MOT etc) £50
    Food £25
    Petrol £20 if you're hardly using the car is it worth having? Would public tranport be cheaper? Think of the money you'd save if you got rid of the car..
    Socialising/ Toiletries £25
    Holidays (to ISA) £50 I would suggest stopping this until you are in a better position to be able to afford a decent holiday.
    M&S Credit Card (£900 owed) (APR 4.9%) £100
    Loan (£7k owed) (APR 6.9%) £168.54
    Car Loan (APR 7.0%) £172.95 How long left on this?
    RBS Credit Card (£2000 owed) (APR 0% until April 2008) £50 What will the APR be when the 0% runs out?

    Income: £2,942.54 Outgoings: £2,908.04
    Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043
