Another 'thick' question from me....

I bought some ready cooked sausage rolls yesterday reduced at Tesco. I thought they would be good for my girls packed lunches so i've frozen them.

My question is...can i take them out of the freezer and defrost them and eat them, or do i need to re-heat them first.......

also

does anyone freeze cooked pizza and then defrost and put straight into packed lunches?....does it taste ok?

Thanks again everyone for your replies.

Yes, you do not need to reheat them; sausage rolls will be fine.

As for the pizza - can't really answer because when I make them, they get gobbled up before the freezer gets a look in.

Thanks re sausage rolls. I thought i'd make a pizza just for freezing so my girls could sometimes have something different in their packed lunches as they like cold pizza.

Try it kippers. I think some toppings would lend themselves to the freezing process more than others though. For example, sliced tomatoes and things such as say olives, probably won't freeze too well.

What sort of toppings did you have in mind?

Ok, I've checked my freezer book and it seems that, because the pizza is cooked before freezing, sliced tomatoes should be ok, as will olives (woohoo! Learn something new every day :D )

It recommends, wrapping in foil, then freezer bags.

They can also be heated up again if you wanted them for a meal another day; and they should be fine for packed lunches, eaten cold :D

I cook HM pizza (various toppings) freeze it and get out a slice and put frozen into my sons pack up each morning. By lunchtime it has defrosted despite his having a cooler bag type lunch box. I do agree that foil is best although when I'm short it's just freezer bags for us. Freezer bags defrost quicker.

Thanks...so sausage rolls and pizza for my DD's pack lunches (doesn't sound very healthy does it, but this will be for their Friday treat).
