  • Can i just add one thing here. The DTI liink is interesting as I took an item back to a (different to this thread) store approx 5 months after purchase, and the first thing the cashier said was "did I have the receipt?". On this occasion, I did happen to find the receipt, but one of my family said that the credit card evidence of purcase should be enough, so this comment is nicely backed up by DTI, and that link will be bookmarked for future ref - nice one rawk
  • Your contract when you bought this is with the retailer, not the manufacturer.
Under the sale of goods act 1984, if you return this within 6 months as fawlty, they have to prove there is not a fault. You need your receipt with this, not the guarantee card.
Look like RAWKs link is showing that I should have referred to the 1994 act . ................ :-).

Yes Proof of purchase is fine, whatever that might be. If you buy from any of the H-Samuel or even sister shops Ernest Jones or Leslie Davis. If you cant find copies of bank statement etc but you still have the card details that you paid with and an approximate date, staff at the original branch that you made the purchase provided it was not online would be able to track down your transaction immediately as proof of purchase.

Inside Info :j work for one of the above named

would also be worth asking for some form of compensation for bus fares/car parking charges for the trips you have had to make to have this repaired, there is no reason you should be out of pocket because they sold a faulty item

I've used the repair service and normally takes 2-3 weeks and the watch comes back looking new.
