Im also toying with the idea of BTing about £1200 instead of £300 based on the figures I worked out yesterday, but am yet to do the maths, so this post will remind me to work it out this afternoon.

    I have spends to declare!
£21 on the part for the bike.
£2.50 on clothes for DD - 3 x trousers and one fleecy sleepsuit that looks unworn.
50p sticker book for the kids to share.
£3 in Somerfield on 4 oranges, 4 apples, 4 pork chops, 2 steaks and fresh root ginger, all on 75% discount so total value of £12. Why anyone would spend £1.60 on 4 apples and £1.80 on 4 oranges I dont know! Might make orange cake, or ginger cake! hmmm, will have to dig out some recipes.

ok, Ive done the maths and its better to only BT £300. Ive had to do the maths on a spreadsheet but basically to BT £300 to 3.9% and overpay the large 15.9% debt (for the first 5 months, then use the overpayment to clear the 3.9% card in the last month) means we pay over £2k across all 3 cards in 6 months. Whereas to BT £1200 to the 3.9% and overpay that to get it cleared in 6 months, whilst minpaying the 15.9%, only pays off about £1700, around £330 less.
What we really need is a low LOB deal to accomodate the £3700 worth of 15.9% debt, but I suppose if we can keep getting 6 months deals and keep shifting £300 at a time, we will still get there, it'll just be hard work.

    Woohoo sub £10k!!:j :j

Ive just updated the snowball with this mornings £93 minimum payment for the big CC. It knocked a month off our DFD now Dec 2012, - oh much better does it feel to say I'll be DF in 2012 rather than 2013!
It has taken us under the 10k marker, in fact by £80 which means we should still be sub 10k when they add the interest for the two CC's Ive paid this week, which will be in a few days I think. Lets hope it stays that way when I balance the OD's and savings at the end of the week.

And, just spotted that we have now cleared £500 worth of debt since I started doing the snowball which was 8 weeks ago (well 5 weeks ago but some payments had to be backdated to make it balance - blooming paper statements).

We look skint at the mo because the weekly allowance of TC's has gone into the account at the same time as the minpay went out, for almost the same amount.
Still, its payday tomorrow and that extra 13.5 hours OT comes through with it. Mind you most of it is allocated. We shall see tomorrow how much were left with.

£2.50 spend in Tescos last night which included bargain donuts and hot cross buns for a treat, milk (4 pts for 8p) plus the two things I actually went for. Then 15p this morning on half price pitta breads. Its all adding up, I now have less than £20 for the food for the rest of the month, and £2.50 for non-food, which is all allocated for cat food.

As my DFD is changing a lot atm, I have been thinkng a lot about a target DFD. I really want to be DF by my 30th birthday which is just less than 3 years away. On current figures that looks unlikely but I also know that £2375 is about to be wiped overnight at some point in the next couple of months, and have no idea what effect that will have. Also if we go ahead with the IO mortgage and can overpay our debts, then it could be 2years. So I think it would be fab if we could be DF by the time DH is 30, which is 14 monhs away. Sounds like a huge task right now, but thats what Im going to go for.
  • :j :j Congratulations on being sub 10K. :j :j

Your progress has been amazing:T . I think you will easily reach your first target to be debt free by 30.

Thanks Wendy, lets hope I make it.

Been paid, the mortgage allocation transfer has gone through, replaced the money transfered when we were short last week, and paid £50 to the other OD to pay off the remainder of my HSBC CC. So theres about £1 left of this weeks pay! and £25 before we smack the OD limit! Oh well!
I have cancelled the transfer of what would have been the CTax money due this week, so thats £124 that will be staying put, but it kind of accounts for the £50 per week Im paying off the other OD. I think we have a phone bill and a tiny gas bill due out this week which will be about £40 - £45 between them, about a tenner for food today. So hopefully we can get away with minimal robbing of the savings this week. Migfht even get Good Fridays pay on the Thu next week, which will help.
