Very Expensive Lettuce at Lidl

Usual weekly shop at Lidl is around £50. Today cashier said £135!! I knew this was wrong as we hadn't bought anything different or any big ticket items, Said to cashier this must be wrong and she replied that she did her shop yesterday and it was much more than expected, which I ignored and also tried to show we had had all our discounts. Realising I wasn't accepting her pathetic attempts at an explanation, she sensibly called for assistance but her use of words implied it was me who was in the wrong. A manager quickly appeared and after a few minutes checked the till and saw I had been charged £95 for a lettuce instead of £1; but they weren't sure how it happened!!! Mistake was quickly rectified'
On 6 of the last 7 shops with Lidl there has been some incorrect charging. Am very seriously considering going elsewhere!

Thanks for pointing this out. I bought a chrsitmas jumper there the other week, ticket said £7.29 and when I later looked on the receipt it was £8.99. I didn't bother going back as I was in a rush, but it does make you wonder how many mistakes are made1

Wow £95 (even the Dutchy Organic lettuce is only £2-ish).
i once paid £40 for a portion of "chips in gravy" -----> family get together and the elders paid for everyone else's takeaway.
Good on you for checking and speaking up 👍I have a tendency to mute most posts so if your expecting me to respond you might be waiting along time!1 -
They once charged me for 40 bags of carrots when I only bought 1. I only had a few items, so it was easy to spot the mistake.2

Must be some bugs in their system, as I check my Tesco receipt every time and I can not remember the last time I found an error.
Which is actually a bit surprising with all the clubcard deals, 25 % off wine, 2 for 1 etc .0 -
A lot of the time with the "reduced" sticker items it was till operator error.Albermarle said:Must be some bugs in their system, as I check my Tesco receipt every time and I can not remember the last time I found an error.

Chap in front of me once got charged about £80 for 2 bags of sprouts. I just said that was yet another good reason to never buy them!! I get loads of errors at Tesco, but as I always get a receipt and check before I leave the shop they always happily sort it out. Often just pennies but adds up over a year - probably around a tenner total in 20250

Maybe a good reason to use the Self Scan guns? Doubt if they'll add up stuff wrongly once the item is scanned.pseudodox said:I get loads of errors at Tesco, but as I always get a receipt and check before I leave the shop they always happily sort it out. You can still use a personned checkout if you wish, useful if you are applying points or coupons.1 -
I am not paid by Tesco to be checkout staff. I not only get to have a conversation with the checkout staff but also with customer services. Otherwise I may have no interaction with any one for days.0
