Online parking payment not showing on credit card statement

Thank you.Coupon-mad said:Yes that's a solid defence.
Probably caused by you making payment in good faith & them not collecting it within the days after. Of course it's unfair.
On the balance of probabilities, you did NOT pay £0. If it were me, I would try to replicate this on the app (sitting at home) and have someone filming your screen on another phone, to prove that it's impossible for the driver to pay £0 when completing all steps.
I have had 2 suggestions on where the '0' might have come from (see above) and need to investigate further. I did attach my card details to the app that day so maybe it caused a zero as part of a check with the bank.0 -
It was the NexusPay app. I selected 4 hours parking, then was directed to my own bank's app so that I could confirm the payment.Car1980 said:What specific app?
The £0.00 is a request for permission to charge the card. It's not unusual.
If the app is poorly designed it will just take the £0.00 permission as the transaction. But the purpose is that you've given the company permission to charge you the correct amount. If they didn't, that's their problem.
They'll argue (wrongly) that it's your problem - "well, you should have seen it said zero" so you still didn't pay.
Luckily Group Nexus are part of the BPA so there is an appeals service that isn't quite as corrupt as the alternative trade body's. But you'll have to argue over the workings of an app.
Either way, it's not binding on you if you lose and then you'd be on the ignoring path.0 -
"Thank you, do you know why the parking company might do that?"
So that they can invoice you for up to £170 for "no payment received"!!3 -
The transaction delay facility is used in circumstances where an order cannot be met immediately such as buying trees where you buy them in advance and they charge your account when ready to be delivered. It can be switched on and off so could be subject to abuse. We have seen a scenario on this forum where a transaction was pending on the OP's bank account and then dropped off the system.

The conspiracy theorist in me tends to agree with you! Nice little earner!1505grandad said:"Thank you, do you know why the parking company might do that?"

That is very interesting, thank you. Could there be a way to find out if the parking company may have done that?Snakes_Belly said:The transaction delay facility is used in circumstances where an order cannot be met immediately such as buying trees where you buy them in advance and they charge your account when ready to be delivered. It's difficult but the bank said that there was a transaction with no value. That seems strange. You could ask for the list of transactions for the time period. Some PPC's have been know to tamper.R63214 said:

"I called my bank and asked them to dig deeper. They found that a transaction had in fact been made: for £0.0. It did not show on my statement because of the zero amount. However from the bank's point of view it was a successful transaction."
Could you get the bank to evidence the transaction for zero? It might come in useful.

Yes, they said they would send written confirmation of what happened. I think I need to double check that the zero was not part of a 'new card checking process'. It is interesting that you say some PCCs have been known to tamper.Snakes_Belly said:"I called my bank and asked them to dig deeper. They found that a transaction had in fact been made: for £0.0. It would be unusual to confirm a £zero payment. It’s highly likely that you would have noticed that at the timeR63214 said:
