Thought I had replied to this but seems to have vanished...
All the airlines in Manchester T2 have self service bag check in (where you weigh it) but these still wont "open" (along with the actual bag drop desk) until a number of hours before, you would have to check with SAS if this is 2 or 3 hours.0 -
OP restarted this thread on a different board.la531983 said:Thought I had replied to this but seems to have vanished...

Well its moved to the shiny new terminal now. Self service machines everywhere and no check-in alcoves like T1 had (was a right mess, some desks downstairs and some behind the main bank of desks).rowan222 said:la531983 said:Thought I had replied to this but seems to have vanished...

There will still be a time before the flight when bag drop opens though, I cannot tell you what this is.0 -
There is a difference between self-service bag drop, which simply means you do all the work the check-in staff used to do e.g. weighing the bags and putting the labels on, and 'Early Bag Drop' which some airlines operate for early morning flights. I suspect the OP is really looking for the early bag drop option.0

I suspect SAS dont operate such a service there.TELLIT01 said:There is a difference between self-service bag drop, which simply means you do all the work the check-in staff used to do e.g. weighing the bags and putting the labels on, and 'Early Bag Drop' which some airlines operate for early morning flights. EDIT - indeed the Manchester Airport confirms it is just TUI, Jet2, Virgin, Easyjet and Ryanair
Checking-in | Manchester Airport
The OP will have to find out from SAS how many hours before the bag drop opens. This will be between 2 and 3 hours. Unlikely to be any more than this for a short haul operation.0 -
And again you will get that. And again, this wont open until X hours before (self service or otherwise), and again you will have to ask the airline what X is.rowan222 said:TELLIT01 said:There is a difference between self-service bag drop, which simply means you do all the work the check-in staff used to do e.g. weighing the bags and putting the labels on, and 'Early Bag Drop' which some airlines operate for early morning flights. To clarify. Its the self service bag drop I'm after, print tags, stick bags on scales and say goodbye to them! My flight not until early evening. I'll have checked in and all that online 24 hours before. Since its now all moved to T2 I'll just have to arrive early and see what transpires.0
