Not everyone is aware of all the offerings from their local library, but those that are rave about the money saving opportunities.
From movies and music, to somewhere study and print out your essay notes - there's probably something for everyone.
So, what do you use your library card for? Vote in our poll below!
... And if you don't use your local library, maybe some of the replies will persuade you to give it a try!

printing. I always used to print things off at work but now that I'm retired this is my best option. I could buy a printer of course but don't think I'd use it enough to justify the expense. I'd want one with the option to do colour and that would get expensive very quickly I think. Not sure where'd I'd put the printer and supplies either so this saves me dealing with that!!
I also get out books occasionally but have to be careful as the return notices don't actually work and unless I put a reminder on my calendar I get hit with overdue fees.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. My local library is much more than a traditional lending library as it's also a community hub and offers lots of different services.
It's a drop off point for forms and ID for Housing Benefit, Council Tax Support, council home applications, parking permits, Blue Badges, entertainment licences, planning permission applications, requesting housing repairs in person, buying a RADAR key, reporting anti social behaviour, using their computers and printers.
Baby changing area, public and disabled access toilets, free WiFi, induction loop and BSL service.
Lifts to the upper floor, free parking (four disabled spaces), a wheelchair accessible entrance and support dogs are welcome. There is a bus stop 200m away and it's near a large supermarket.
There is also a dedicated Registry Office to register births or deaths rather than having to attend the main office in the city centre.
The library works closely with local primary schools to provide reading clubs and has plenty of study areas for the older children.
Provides private spaces for MP's surgeries.
Open every day except Sunday. Not surprisingly, it's well used.Be kind to others and to yourself too.0 -
I voted study/work space, but actually for multiple things. The cafe, study space, reading and taking out books. But generally it’s a quiet(ish) space where I can sit quietly and just be myself.2025 starting April and 2 adults: £257; £255; £243;

I would have clicked at least two of the options. This poll has been poorly set up ☹️0

I prefer to read physical books over ebooks, but I don’t want to spend a lot of money or have all of them hanging around my house when I’ve finished them. I use my library like Amazon, ordering the books I want through their app for a small fee. I have a lovely lady who delivers them for me because I’m virtually housebound at the moment. The library also accepts donated books so if I do buy a book I’ll often donate it to them so that other people can enjoy it too.0
