Sainsbury's Delivery Pass and Gift Card - changes to terms & conditions

I have just checked the Ts & Cs again.  They are still saying  

'2.6 All orders are subject to a minimum order value of £40 after any discounts or non-Sainsbury's e-vouchers have been deducted.  Orders under £40 will be charged the usual delivery rate for the selected delivery slot as shown on our online booking page.'

This is not what the CA Sarah has just told me.  Has anyone any other info?  I use a gift card, which last time took me below £40.  How do I know what to do next week?!!!!

I wouldn't worry about the T&Cs, what has to change is their system's definition of "non-Sainsbury's e-vouchers" so that the gift cards are excluded from the calculation.

As for next week, it'll probably have to be suck it and see.

Yes, it seems to be one big error and lots of confusion at Sainsbury's.

I've been in contact with their online team and the latest clarification I have from them is that:

"To clarify, we will no longer charge a delivery fee where the total order value is less than £40 when vouchers or promotional codes have been used, including payments made using Sainsbury’s Gift Cards. This means that as long as your original trolley total (before applying vouchers or gift cards) is above £40, and you have an active Delivery Pass, you will continue to qualify for free delivery."

This is just the opposite of what their Helpline told me on Tuesday. 

I have suggested that they get their software team to sort out the error on their website.

All seems to be back to normal now.

I have just updated an order for delivery next week. The trolley total was just over £40 and I applied a Nectar voucher to take the total below £40 and no delivery cost. Just as it was before all this nonsense.

This glitch is back.  After a few weeks of everything working fine my shop today had a trolley value of £40.75 and I had a gift card and coupons totalling £36.85.  And, you guessed it, they have charged a delivery fee of £4.50.  How frustrating!

In case anyone is still following this thread - happy to report the glitch wasn't present today. I used a gift card to bring my total down to about £10 and delivery pass successfully gave free delivery. Hoorah!

The sudden appearance of a delivery fee in spite of having a delivery pas just happened to me today for the first time. How weird, given the previous message! My basket is just over £40 and I have two substitution promise voucners and one customer service coupon. I would assume these count as Sainsbury's vouchers, but applying any single one of them brings the total to below £40 and triggers a delivery fee.
