I've just been scammed by a cowboy builder for the second time and he's damaged my neighbour's property.

He spoke in an English accent, was immaculate and very charming.  Have done some digging and uncovered a video of him talking in a strong Irish brogue. His father's name is Paddy and he was bare knuckle boxing - get the picture?

Can I ask any builders on here what would get them rushing round to repair the bodge.  What's the worst thing a disgruntled customer could do without getting their head knocked in.

I did not have a contract and paid in cash. I trust no one and cannot afford to be ripped off again.

No, it was a different builder.  I'm was just making the point that the accent was fake.  

Probably best to write it off and learn from it.

Maybe the Irish accent on the video was fake?

If you describe what the bodge job was, perhaps people might be able to help a bit more.

I think you've already learned never to pay up front for a job, and ensure there's enough left owed until you're happy with the final job.
