Hi
I have an older Acer Aspire a315-56 and would like to upgrade to a NVMe about 500GB and maybe Samsung if that’s a good brand and also an adapter, NVMe to SaTa enclosure so my SaTa reader can read it so I can clone the disk etc.
Thing is I am ultra confused about B key and M key slottage.
Can someone please help me on this one.
Thank You

Confused about SATA reader and adapter.... Why?
Obviously if you are upgrading to an NVMe drive from a SATA drive, it means you have slots for both. Therefore you should be able to read/clone within the device itself.0 -

That laptop will take a 7mm SATA drive (not the thicker 9mm variants), either of those would be fine, either 500MB or 1TB, the only thing I cannot find online is how easy that actually is to do on that specific laptop.

AFAIK the Acer Aspire A315-56 only supports M.2 SATA drives, not NVMe.1

Therefore you should be able to read/clone within the device itself.Nobody is confused at all.The laptop will take an M.2 or NVMe but also it has an old HDD with a SaTa interface, so I want to keep the old HDD with a SaTa interface so I need to clone the OS from the old HDD info to the new M.2 or NVMe by taking out the old HDD and putting that into my Sabrent Dual SaTa reader, place the new M.2/NVMe into an enclosure and the put that into the Sabrent Dual SaTa reader.
And them from my PC (very powerful) clone the drive as I do not wish to install cloning software on an old slow laptop.I just want to buy the correct enclosure as you can see they have different Key connectors, so it would be dumb to buy a brand new M.2 or NVMe and the adapter wont accept it.0 -
Slot which is NVMe M.2 but will the enclosure work with it, lol0
