Pension Lump Sum - Tax Raid

  • Hi All,

What are the latest predictions on what the chancellor will do in the autumn budget?

I am thinking of taking my 25% of my four current pensions sooner rather than later.

I am working hence still paying in to one of the four.
By all means take your money out now. But don’t come crying on here wanting to reverse your decision when the “predictions” turn out to be a steaming pile of 💩.

Truth is, the chancellor has absolutely no room for manoeuvre thanks to the hopeless mistakes, dogma, arrogance, ignorance and blithe wasteful spaffing of preceding administrations.

There, I've made it nicely political now, hopefully mods will apply the delete hammer before too long  :#
As the thread is now in the Last Chance Saloon, I will just say RR is maybe not a brilliant Chancellor, but she was given a 'hospital pass' for sure.

Indeed, one of the few things the last government did well was to salt the earth. Spent what they knew the country couldn't afford in the knowledge that Labour would need to raise taxes and then ran an election scare story that Labour would put up taxes so they had to pledge not to do so if they wanted to get into power.

We're facing the very real prospect of getting our very own Trump and then we'll really have something to worry about.
Good point.  The last employee NI reduction to 8% was bad for the country as a whole and it's a shame Labour didn't feel able to commit to reversing that given it was done so close to the change in government.

But no doubt some spin doctor would have vetoed it 😞

It's deja vu all over again...
Is that déjà déjà vu or déjà vu vu or déjà déjà vu vu?
