Car Insurance - NCD with two cars after claim

I'm in the process of renewing my car insurance after a recent claim and have become completely confused regarding the details I should be entering on the comparison site. It's a bit of a saga, but my situation is:
- My partner and I previously a single car (Car A), with clean records building up no-claims discount (NCD).
- I purchased another Car (Car 'B) approx 5 years ago. At this point I made a genuine error (which I've only just realised) of applying my NCD from Car A onto this policy - hence using the NCD on both policies. I now appreciate this shouldn't have been done, but it went through fine at the time.
- I am the policyholder for both policies, but we are both covered on each car's policy - alternating between the main and named drivers for Car A and Car B.
- I tend to switch insurance companies every year based on the best deal, so I have had a string of insurance policies since then with no issues raised by any insurer.
- We recently traded in Car A for a new car (Car C) and I used the NCD from Car A's policy for Car C, again no issues were flagged.
- My partner was at fault for a claim in Car C earlier this year, which will reduce our NCD considerably according to Car C's policy.
- I'm now in the process of renewing my insurance on Car B.
Please can someone help me understand the following questions:
- Am I correct in thinking that the current NCD on Car B (9+ years) should be unaffected by the claim on Car C's policy?
- Am I correct in thinking that I should declare the claim for both of us (when entering details on comparison sites) - i.e. not just for my partner?
- What would you advise about incorrectly applying the NCD on Car B 5 years ago? I'm concerned that if I ask my insurer to step down the NCD to 4-5 years they may cancel my policy which could affect future policies. However, I would clearly prefer to be honest about this, now that I have learned that NCD shouldn't have been applied across two policies the way I did 5 years ago.
