Leaseholder with Subsidence Issue in a building owned by Council

I live in a block of 4 flats and there is movement or subsidence that I have reported since 2022.Cracks are on my walls and my kitchen door does not shut.
The council is the freeholder of the building.Since I reported this, Drains have been checked many times and a surveyor came in 2023 on behalf of the council to report movement. They have failed to update me many times.
Since 2020 no work has taken placeo on the building . Can make a complaint for negligence. Or should I make a claim for subsidence through the freeholder's insurance? I want to get compensation.
Thank very much.

Compensation for what?
Sounds like the Council have had reports which amount to nothing and therefore have done nothing.
If they have responded to your reports but doing numerous surveys it doesn't indicate negligence
Have you obtained a report which contradicts this and evidences subsidence?0 -
Hi
Thanks for responding.
I would say Compensation for inconveniene and distress , negligence in the council being the freeholders responsible for the structure and not doing anything ie underpinning etc. Taking too long to resolve , no communication .
The surveyor who visited me in 2023 said he wuold make a report to action the remedies which was due to movement in the building. I have yet to see this report and awaiting this.
Should i make a complaint to the council about this matter and seek compensation for their faults or make a claim through the insurance on the building. Or wait until I see a report and findings from the surveyor?0 -
When have you ever heard of somebody in a similar position getting compensation for "distress"?
What inconvenience have you been caused and how are you vouching its cost?0
