Purchase regret or reason to worry?

Marleysmummy99 said:My husband saw this in the loft and was worried. Here are some of the many issues:none of these are structural issues and the cracked yard should have been obvious when you bought it.A tiny bit of pointing, cracked yard, a messy filler and a plaster crack are nothing in the grand scheme of home ownership. Why have you convinced yourself (against all sane logic) that everyone else even paid professionals with training and nothing to gain by lying to you are wrong and your house is basically secretively derelict/dangerous?3

This photo you have posted - with some brickwork circled in blue - is a complete non-issue. Some repointing needed - that's all.Marleysmummy99 said:

Yes I agree, with Tabieth. At this point I would get another survey done by another company. Then make a list of all the things you have spotted and discuss them. Its worth the extra money for peace of mind, hopefully it gives you some expert reassurance and if anything major turns up you have it documented.2

Anxiety is a very real issue that can lead to all sorts of overthinking and this is a classic example of how it can go. This could be my sibling posting because we have very similar conversations about his property.
So no, I don’t think it’s a wind up at all.

TheJP said:A lot of what you are posting is things you should have seen when you were viewing the property, the surveyor has given you a report that there is noting major. Most of what you have posted is cosmetic and can be rectified either by DIY or by a professional at a cost but noting into the £0000s.
If you love the house then stop picking holes in it and look at what you need to do/want to do with the things you find.
If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing0 -

I'm also an anxious person which means i spend more time looking into things, all the things you have posted would have been visible when you viewed the property which i assume was more than once.
Myself and others are trying to help ease your anxiety so that you can approach the issues in a way that is logical so that you can then enjoy the property you love rather than have regrets.
The more you pick at something the worse it will get (in your mind) which will lead to you never enjoying the house.2 -

We've got a structural engineer coming on Friday.0 -
I think that’s sensible because you don’t have a lot of faith in the other surveyor. But if I tell you there’s nothing to worry about, you need to do your best to believe them. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.2
