Final invoice for house upgrade came in less than anticipated which is a real positive! Paid that first thing this morning. I have transferred £500 to Travel and Annual Expenses account and £125 to my Cash ISA. Signature has been updated.Saving To Keep Ahead Of The Game — MoneySavingExpert Forum
December 2025 Target for Annual Bills and Travel Account 2026 £7000. Current Total £46251 -
Transferred another £125 to the Cash ISA yesterday. State Pension is due next week. I will then pay for my new glasses and final payment for my private cosmetic skin treatment. All being well,I will end the month with the planned £1200 in my current account. I need this amount as my main bills/transfers go out at the beginning of the month before my occupational pension arrives in the middle of the month.
I am quite please getting fully back on track considering all the extra expenses from the past 6 weeks or so that resulted from my relative being in two different hospitals. So grateful for her survival and continuing recovery.Saving To Keep Ahead Of The Game — MoneySavingExpert Forum

Hi OYU
Very pleased to hear your relative is back home and recovering.
I also have vulnerable Older Ones (and a couple of younger ones too, in fact), so just wonder if you have a separate savings ‘pot’ for contingencies like the extra expenses associated with your relative’s recent health scare?I’ve set up a ‘helping hand’ savings pot in St@rl1ng in case I need extra funds to help me as I help them, or so I have something put aside to support them with taxi fares etc in the event I’m not available to drive them to appointments. This was a way of keeping the £££ to hand without locking them away like in a regular saver, but I read somewhere St@rl1ng are not likely to be giving interest on pot funds any more, so I’m open to other ideas if you have any?Glad the end of the month sees you back on track, S&R x~ * ~ "A goal without a plan is just a wish" Antoine de Saint Expuery ~ * ~

@ShyAndRetiring many thanks for your response and suggestion. My older relative lives with me so there are rarely any extra costs. Fortunately she is also financially independent and contributes towards any extra expenses easily. We share all household bills in any case. Fortunately the recent condition was physical and will slowly recover. Her mental functions are as sharp as ever!
@Skint_yet_Again. Many thanks for your positive comment. I hope you are looking after yourself too. Take care.Saving To Keep Ahead Of The Game — MoneySavingExpert Forum

As the end of the month approaches I have sent another £50 to the Travel and Annual Expenses account.
Current account is at £1227.00 which is just above my target for the end of each month.
Tomorrow will not have any costs as I am at home with family coming over for Sunday lunch. Only trip out will be for a booked visit to the local tip.Saving To Keep Ahead Of The Game — MoneySavingExpert Forum
